Because Steve YOung threw away a LOT OF GAMES. The niners could of had 2-3 more rings if it wasn't for YOUNG throwing away the games against Dallas.
Steve Young was only active for 7 seasons with the niners.
Garcia had 5 seasons. It was T.O who ruined the team. Tai streets was alright.... JJ STOKES was reliable.I mean that comeback against NY GIANTS amazing. That beatdown from the Bucaneers...SAD.
Now that i think about it its weird how the niners couldn't have won a ring in that era. They had a Good Defense (weak pass def), Good run game in Hurst,Excellent Recivers, Good QB. Mariuchi at fault? T.O? Turnovers?
Those were good football days tho. The NFL is so different now. Chiefs remind me of the bucs right now.

Somebody's been eating the wrong kind of mushrooms. Garcia rated over Young? I agree Jeff was/is underrated and had the misfortune of following two Hall of fame QB's, but he has to be #3 AFTER Young. Come down off your high, my friend!
underated big time, that dude was a small QB but played with a big heart. he gave us so many great seasons of winning, we just never had the team to win much in the playoffs, we had derek friggin smith and ahmad plummer and a scrubby defense to back him up. but yea jeff was a good niner.
Under-rated as far as I'm concerned. But as far as that list above, I'd have to put Brodie ahead of Garcia. Brodie was the league MVP in '70 and led the team to the NFC Championship game.
