If we assume Crabtree has a good year this upcoming season, he will get his 8mil a year from 49ers or another team easily. Its just the way the market is. Top WRs come and go each year. Remember not too long ago (within 5 years), NIcks, Jennings, Bowe and Lloyd (2010) were all atop the league in WR stats. Right now they are all over the hill and/or washed up. Of course you have your studs year in and year out, but its hard to get one of those consistent elite WRs.
Crabtree just needs to stay healthy and he will command the 8+mil a year contract from 1 NFL team. And judging from his 1 full season with Kaep, i expect him to put up some great numbers.

to hell with stats! Crabtree passes the sight test. plus he's responsible for so many clutch 3rd down conversions that don't show up in "statistics"

I ranked that chart off of production, not how much each WR is making. Just because a WR like Mike Williams is making 8mil/yr doesn't mean he has earned it.
Seriously Crabs hasn't done anything worthy of us paying him more than 8 million a year.
Like I posted before,
Danny Amendola and Michael Crabtree have an almost identical production average per year since entering the NFL
Would you pay Amendola 8mil a year to be a niner?
Thats great Crabtree helps us on third downs, what about the games he doesn't play? Dude has been injured 3 times since coming into the NFL.
2 WR's at 4-5mil a year will help us out more on 3rd downs that Crabtree will.

FWIW
I just noticed ESPN listed it's top Fantasy Football players by position. Crabtree was the #21 WR.

WRs scheduled to be free agents after this season include: Dez Bryant, Michael Crabtree, Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Roddy White, Wes Welker
More WRs in last year of their deal: Demaryius Thomas, Reggie Wayne, Jeremy Maclin, Hakeem Nicks, Torrey Smith. Makes 2015 an all-time WR free-agent class.
All those quality FA WRs might help us get crabs at a better price. Granted some will be extended there will still be a good amount that hit the market.

We will probably get a better WR cheaper than what Crabs signs for knowing Baalke

Very true. Unless Crabtree has a. 100 catch, 1400 yards, 10 td year I can't see him being paid more than half of those guys

Even IF Crabs has a career season, we shouldn't pay him more than 8 a year

I would normally agree, but if history is any indicator, Crabtree and his team do not abide by normal negotiation tactics. Although i guess that does not really matter if the market as a whole is not willing to pay him what he wants, and with the oversaturated FA WR market, that could be the case..
On a side note, it's probably not feasible, but give me Thomas please

Those first two claims were the general consensus about Mike Wallace on here as well.

I'm going to start a thread that will change everyone's mind on why Crabtree will not be here next year (unless he takes less than 7.5 mil)
