Aldon has done worse s**t than this kid, and we cut him slack. He just needs to realize the NFL is run by a bunch of old-timers who don't like the idea of weed, but are perfectly ok with players taking amphetamines to stay alert and memorize playbooks....

I'd say sign the dude. Only reason he's in trouble is that he smokes bud. Yet almost all the league does according to players. As well as that he got a DWI not a DUI. There's a pretty big difference. And I'm not sure exactly what a DWI intails in Ohio, could not pass field sobriety or he simply had THC "from smoking" in his blood at the time, that's how it unfortunately works in Washington state, but when it can hang around in your blood for a month or so, so you can get in trouble for driving sober after smoking a J two weeks ago.
Think honey bagger at LSU, he got in big trouble for a small possession which is jail time in Louisiana but in California the same amount is an equivalent to a parking ticket legally.

The only reason I thought it was silly to talk about giving up a 1st for him was NFL rules. That's it. For me, it had nothing to do with him as a person. I feel bad for him. I think the fact that NFL players can't use pot to ease their pain is a completely ridiculous disgrace. It's absurd. The NFL is fine with them taking all sorts of pharmaceuticals, most of which are probably dangerous and addictive, but using this herb to relax and deal with soreness and pain is off limits??!! Ridiculous.

He's not worth a 2nd round pick or any round pick for that matter. The entire NFL is telling you that. At this point, if the Browns' phone rang with a team offering a 2nd round pick for Gordon, the Browns would probably hang-up the phone believing it was a crank call.


Regardless of whether the NFL is "run by a bunch of old-times who don't like the idea of week" or not, the NFL's rules are what they are -- not to mention they were collectively bargained by the NFLPA -- and Gordon is about as deep in violation of those rules as one can get at the moment. At a minimum, no team is going to give up anything of value before the appeal of his suspension is heard, but, even then, for all of the potential he has, how could the 49ers or any team give the Browns anything knowing that he basically has been in trouble one way or almost another every year since 2011.

The difference with Aldon is that he is not as far along in the discipline process as Gordon. To date, Aldon hasn't been suspended by the league, though we know something is coming. Maybe he ends up being in the same situation as Gordon but, as of now, he is not as far down that road as Gordon. .

While weed should be legal and taxed, even as ridiculous of a law it is... Its just as ridiculous that these guys cant even grasp the effect getting caught could have on your career. The young and dumb free pass gets used up on your first and second offenses.... this dude just doesnt get it. Kicked off the Baylor and Utah teams, then multiple suspensions and he still gets in trouble. Gordon is as idiotic as the policies that get him in trouble.

I wouldnt say Aldon got a "free pass" there were plenty of zoners wanting him off the team, but its also completely different situations. Doesnt excuse his behavior either, but he also saw his problem and was willing to forgoe 4 game checks to get help even though the niners decided to still pay him which they technically didnt have to.

He was just arrested for a DWI not a DUI, so clearly he has a drinking issue as well. He was also bailed out by a convicted felon too.

We've all drank and smoked some weed,but once you get caught you'd think you would learn your lesson, he clearly hasn't and is throwing away a successful career and making millions of dollars (if your work says no weed and we will pay you millions I bet you wouldn't smoke lol).

I'm pretty sure amphetamines are illegal in the NFL unless you have prescription....no way in hell would I give a 2nd RD pick to a player who won't play this year and if gets caught again probably get banned from football.

All that needs to be said about the whole Josh Gordon situation.
