I disagree. How many WR's have the 49ers drafted recently? Kyle Williams who was a 6th rounder. Ron Johnson who was a 6th rounder and was drafted as a favor for the WR's coach when others wanted Doug Baldwin. AJ Jenkins had no heart, he was a bona fide bust. Quinton Patton had some good moments in his rookie season after coming back from injury....and then they just opted not to play him in favor of a 34 year old who had been out football for a season.

Ellington was a dynamic slot receiver in college, used sparingly as a returner......so they made him a full time returner and gave him limited snaps on offense.

I'd first like to see how these guys look with a non-potato coaching staff.

Sounds good. Now, if we can also throw in some freebies (Dahl is one of them) to sweeten up the deal... maybe we won't have to give up a pick

If you gave the bold to Patriots / Belichick, they would have gotten more from those clowns... no doubt they could do a lot more with Ellington / Patton, too. That's what great coaching and and elite QB can do for you.

What do we have... an athlete for a QB, a potato OC and a HC whose heart (reportedly) wasn't in it from the beginning of the season??

I'm ready for the Walrus or the Rat and I hope we can get JG

I hope you're right.

Also, he has to sign a contract that if he gets caught with weed in his system which causes time missed, he gets cut and we owe him nothing

Trade Kaepernick, Stevie Johnson, and Patrick Willis to the Brown for Gordon and Manziel.

Trade our first, Bowman, Boone, Hyde and Staley to Tampa Bay for the #1 pick.

Use the number #1 pick to draft Dorial Green-Beckham.

If we traded for Manziel, after over 30 years of being a diehard fan I'd have to break up with the 49ers...

There's no need for Manziel? There's nothing wrong with the mascot we have right now... if it isn't broke don't fix it.

You are asking the wrong question. The real question is how many good WRs did we pass on knowing that WR was a top need? Just because we didn't draft a bunch of failures at the position doesn't mean that we didn't fail at properly identifying and selecting good prospects. We let way too many impact receivers slide right by us while we drafted players at positions that should have been a lower priority. Believe it or not, continuously allowing good WRs to slip past you means you can't seem to draft WRs.
