i didnt read the link, but if he wanted kaep, what prevented him from taking him? as i understand it they dont have a gm and still operate under that old raider and current cowboy structure.

But unlike the late Al Davis, who just drafts the fastest WR on the board (ie Heywood Bey over Crabtree), Brown deffered to the OC because Dalton 'fit his future plans'. The report doesnt mention if Marvin had say, which is interesting news in itself.

he defered to jay gruden, not jon gruden, thats a you problem IMO. take the guy you want, the OC aint gonna be there forever, the owner will.

No idea what John Gruden has anything to do with this.

pointing out how dumb the owner is, he deffered to jay gruden, not jon gruden the super bowl winning coach. anways, the bengals owner takes chances on guys all the time like pac man and tank johnson, even TO. but he wont pick the qb for his team that we wants? and defers to some OC is more known for having a famous brother than his actual accomplishments?

My point is that Jay Gruden is the Bengals' OC and John has no contractural ties to that team, so I would think Brown would talk to the guy who actually runs his team's offensive plays. The fact that Marvin Lewis is not even mentioned in the report is disturbing however.

i'm not advocating him get on the phone and call jon gruden for his input, i'm saying had jon gruden been his OC (hypothetical), you could buy the defering to him angle. with jay gruden, that doesnt pass the smell test for me. at the end of the day brown is the owner of a team that operates with no gm. he should have picked his guy he wanted.

Dalton should have to seriously compete for the job next season. It's sad how he wastes all those fantastic weapons they have on offense.

Dalton had a pretty good regular season. 33 TDs/20 INTs. Too many INTS but he passed the ball a lot. The Bungles are just a terrible franchise with an a*****e owner....that type of bad karma just trickles down and poisons the well...even when they have talent and are winning. It's why they can't keep winning and lack a championship tradition.

Um, this IS the Bengals we are talking about.
This is only a secret you reveal AFTER Dalton has led your team to a Super Bowl win. It's sort of a "guess who I wanted" retrospective, which also includes a "see how wrong I was?"

Instead, the boneheaded owner makes the statement that he wanted Kaep before the first playoff game against San Diego?

What a dumbsh*t.

Dalton could fire back with a, "it's OK Mike, I wanted Jed York as my owner," but that probably won't help him.
i'd dump Marvin Lewis WAYYYYY before Dalton.

but like already mentioned....... these are the bengals.....................

Bengals could use a WR RB and better CBs and OLBs.

Oh you can tell everybody lol Never thought I'd like such a shtitier song.

wut? Gio Bernard is a talented back.

... and I too really liked Dalton for us, leading up to the draft. I also thought Kaep was okay, but was far less pro-ready than Dalton. (as it seems, "expert" sources did)

Too much talent on that team for Andy to have played the way he did last weekend... but the owner is an arse for stating what he apparently did.

Everybody thought of Kap as they were told to think of Kap. "Experts" says he wouldn't be ready so everyone on here acted like they knew everything about him.

He wasn't ready when he took over against the Bears last year, just so you all know. Not ready at all.

This. Maybe Marvin Lewis is smart enough to at least stay out when it comes to managing/picking the QB.
