I wanted V. Davis/ P. Willis/ and M. Crabtree to be 49ers, and it obviously happened. I want J. Jackson/ M. Andrews (future J. Witten)/ S. Barkley/ Q. Nelson/ D. James to be a future 49er. These guys are Hall of Famers. Obviously only one will be a 49er.

Good luck with any of those picks. Like the 49ers need more projects. Barkley would make an immediate impact. What's stupid is taking a chance on late round running back's that won't pan out, which is probably what would happen looking at past drafts. No there is nothing stupid in seeing my 49ers making wise moves.

Drop this stupid ass argument, 49ers will not move up to draft S. Barkley. We want, in order, B. Chubb, Q. Nelson, J. Jackson or M. Fitzpatrick, R. Smith

No to Barkley running backs have had little impact in these playoffs.
It's all about having a good quarterback and beast defenses. We have 1 now concentrate the picks on the other.

NE's rb's had 200 combined yards 2 TD's v Ten. It's all about the passing game though and Barkley is a beast at receiver. Not enough to trade away a draft but he'd be well worth the 9th pick should a miracle happen.

Yeah fournettes 3 TDs and 100+ yards were worthless against the steelers

Swap #1 and a 3rd or 4th rounder, and a late round pick in 2019. No he's being compared to Elliott - Gurley and Bell. Barkley is the best back in the draft, by far. Or you could do as you say, cross our fingers with a back in the later rounds. I'd rather go with a sure thing. Ricky Watters wasn't a bad high pick for us. Although we did strike out with Barlow. Keep in mind Shanahan and Lynch are the new chapter of 49er history and I think drafting Barkely is something they would try and get done.
If you're trading into the top 5 it will cost the 49ers 2nd rounder and likely a 3rd rounder at minimum.
Anything else is just fantasyland thinking.
Considering the number of needs on this roster, that is way too much to give up, especially since Barkley wouldn't be doing crap behind a shoddy OL.
As it stands now, according to the draft value, the 49ers are at #9 which is worth 1,350 points. In order to move to #2, 2,600 points, they would have to give trade picks plus a 2nd next year and the following year. Even that will be light since future picks are not valued at the same level as current picks. Think of it as lost interest, in the world of finance.

With all of the qb's I can't imagine trading up being cheap this year. Best chance for Barkley would be other teams trading up taking those qb's and him slipping.

I just don't see any scenario where he goes below 5.

Without a substantial running game that can occupy 35-45 percent of the play, the defenders can devote their resources into defending the pass. With KS's scheme of stealth between pass and run, having an effective running game allows the air attack to be more effective.

Oh, sorry. I came in here thinking this was the Carlos Hyde thread but I guess it has morphed into the Saquon Barkley thread. So if I go to the Saquon Barkley thread in the Draft War Room, will the discussion be all about Carlos Hyde?

His agent will tell us to kick rocks if we offer a deal less than what we gave Juice.
Gotta let him determine his market value and if it's nonexistent throw him on a 1 yr deal or something cheap.
I like Hyde and have defended him a lot in here, but if he wants to get paid it might be somewhere else.
Demarco Murray gets $6.3M/yr. That should be the starting point for Hyde. He's younger and a better receiver coming out of the backfield.
