People wanna lay off Roman but we are running a college offense against pro teams. I know everyone watches seattles games, that is an OC who can call plays. Kap had a horrible game last night but the playcalling also left him out in the cold. Soo many times he got the jitters because AGAIN AFTER 3 SEASONS we have a system where its all or nothing. 90% of the time Kap got the jitters because we are trying to get the first down in one play, and not a sequence of plays. Receivers arent breaking off their routes to give Kap an option under duress.

The offense is undisciplined and at this point there is no excuse. Everyone is to blame, but Roman most of all. It starts with him in this offense and if he sees that Kap is trying to force things then ADJUST! Kap throws an interception and we are still running nothing but 10+ yard routes... how hard is it to get the concept of a QB needs to find his groove so call high percentage pass plays. AGAIN he leaned on Gore too much and left Hyde in the cold until it was too late. Also... seriously!?!?! We are going back to the read option as our "wrinkle"? Pathetic all around.

I agree with this. And I think what really frustrates me the most is when I compare our progress to Seattle's. We've seen them click on all cylinders many times, we have yet to see that with the 49ers.
We haven't? We had several games last year, St. Louis -2nd game, the Buc's game, the Falcons game, the Panthers game in the playoffs, where our offense showed a lot of things really well and was really clicking. Also, several people have talked about Seattle really "clicking" on offense to where it's like they're an offensive juggernaut. Seattle is marginally better than us offensively(if they are really better than us). They just lost to a team that is not a defensive powerhouse by any means. You can't use their performance against GB that everyone saw as the argument that they are much better than us offensively, GB still has a lot of problems on defense. Also, trying to compare Seattle's offense to ours is truly trying to compare apples to oranges. There are similarities, but the systems could not be much different. What would be closer to compare our system to is the the Browns this year, or the Chiefs or the Panthers. These are teams whose systems are much closer to ours than Seattle's. Seattle's offense is much more like the Redskins from last year,

Maybe I'm being a bit short sighted, but still most of those games you mentioned above also had a lot to do with our defense dominating the game, iirc.

I just feel like our offense has no identity. I mean how would you define it? Are we a smash mouth running team? A passing team? A pistol offense team? A read option team? Imo, a team with too many identities has no identity, and that's the real problem.

We can pass all we want if we take out the FB and one of our TE's and put in WR's!!!!!!!!! What's the point of having all that talent if we don't use it????? Kaep would have WR's WIDE OPEN had we tested their depth after Conte and Tillman went down

Because their dbs stepped up and made some great plays and our oline couldn't contain the 4 man pass rush.
Good idea. Let's fire Roman, and replace him with......? Who do we replace him with? Jimmy raye? Jim hostler?

JOHN HARBAUGH FIRED HIS OC AND THEN WENT ON TO WIN THE SUPERBOWL, HAVE SOME BALLS JIM!

FREE CK!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not a huge Roman fan, at all, but Kap was set free. Although there was some play calling issues lasnight the majority of the offensive breakdown was execution, by Kap. I think some of us are in some sort of denial when it comes to Kaepernick. He simply needs work on his pocket game. I'm SOOOOOooo tiered of talking about it but it should be common knowledge by now.

Maybe I'm just further along in the process?

Ask Jonathan Martin about CK's pocket game last night.

ZERO situational awareness from this coaching staff....heads so far into the original game plan, I'm not even sure if they even watch the games anymore. Stick to the script. That's our offense/defense. When it hits, its good, but when it doesn't, it looks as bad as a high school offense/defense.

Well, that's not what I'm meaning. What I mean is that when a LB starts taking a drop from a 1 yard set - your short drag routes run right behind them. To win on a drag route you either need to be between the zones or "crossing the face" of the defender. Meaning, you are running in front of them to shield them from the ball. When a LB is dropping into a zone from a press set they aren't trying to "catch up" anywhere. They're just dropping into their zones. The only zones open to the LB press are the intermediate to deep routes which you already stated are idiotic to run - So it's kind of a logic loophole right now. I'll pull some pics from the Dallas game because the film isn't available yet for reference.

I can't speak to the DB's abandoning their assignments pre-snap because I haven't watched the film yet, but, from what I could see on the broadcast last night, I'm not sure where you're talking about.....
Go ahead

You see how Dallas has crowded the LOS with their LB's - a lot like what Chicago was doing throughout the game last night.

I've highlighted the slot receiver - this isn't the route he runs on this play, but, if he did run a drag route, those LB's have him covered. They aren't having to "catch up" to anything. VD actually does run a drag route from the TE spot and it's covered. Dallas is trying to take away the middle of the field(which they have) You see that the only options are to the outside receivers. Which CK goes to on the hook to Boldin - just like he did last night to Crabs. The only difference is, on this one he threw it high and inside(Boldin made a great catch) but last night he threw it to the outside against a corner with outside leverage.

You see how the LB's pinch the drag route.

From here you see where the drag routes would be run and the red is where the LB's drop - they're not going to get beat by a drag if they drop into coverage.

You see how they're able to drop back shallow while reading the QB. If CK throws that drag route - Davis is going to get pummeled.

It was the right playcall and the right throw on the 2nd INT, it's just a bad throw.

Last I checked, Roman doesn't play right tackle or QB and he is not a pass rusher, so I don't think he was the biggest problem last night.

I think that is the point we are all trying to make. Everyone is to blame but how many more times do we have to watch the same old sh*t play out in front of us. How many games should never even be close yet it comes down to the 4th quarter. How many times are we gonna do exactly what the defense wants us to do.

Empty the backfield. Go 4 WR's and VD or any one TE. That spreads the Defense out and opens up running lanes for Kaep if he HAS TO take off! If the line holds up then we have 3 #1 WR's, a fast rookie, and the fastest TE in the game that the Defense has to cover!
Outside of the goal line stand in the 3rd quarter that squandered a chance to ice it I don't think Roman called that bad of a game. We were averaging some 6 yards a play during the 1st half or something like that. Just a lot of penalties disrupting the rhythm of the game and atrocious decision making from Kaepernick. This is a game we should of won easily and Roman is one of the last people I'd blame for the outcome.

Youll see it when you rewatch.
Ok, but if I don't???
I'm not saying that to be antagonistic or anything. What I mean is this:
When I watch film I truly do try and be as objective as I can, try and look at all the pieces and try and put together the puzzle of what happened and why it happened. I find the deep analytical side of it strangely therapeutic, especially after a gut wrenching loss. Believe me, I probably felt this loss as bad as any of you. I couldn't hardly speak last night, my wife was worried about me, I didn't sleep all the great, because I kept thinking about the loss. It really does hurt. But, you have to be so careful about trying to bury a coaching staff that has led us to 3 straight NFCCG. We act like this is the Erickson/Nolan/Singletary era. How many fan bases around the league can say they have enjoyed the success that we have over the last 3 years? None. We have had the privilege of watching our team late in January where most fans are only left with hoping for next year.

I'm not saying they're off the hook for this loss but, do you think Seattle's fans are calling for Bevell's head right now?? What measure of success have they achieved so much more than us for their fans to be ok with their loss yesterday?? CK throws a ball 1 foot short........
