GREG ROMAN - A COORDINATOR FOR HIRE

In the first half the play calling was awesome and it was working for the most part. In the second half I feel like the coaches went from trying to win this game to trying not to lose the game and the conservative play calling reflected that.

Very correct sir. 1st down keeps it alive.

Also - my girlfriend knew it was going to Crabtree.

he should have caught the f**king ball in my opinion

I don't disagree about Crabs should have caught the ball - BUT he didn't and it wasn't a great throw either.

There doesn't seem to be much imagination on the play calling - my point is everyone seemed to know he was throwing to Crabs.

I agree with what you guys are saying. But in all honesty, what can the team do now? What are the options for them now? Who do we turn to for help?

1. Greg Roman should be fired immediately. And no, this is not a knee jerk reaction. The man is a walking piece of mediocrity.

2. Geep Chryst should take over offensive coordinator and play-calling duties immediately.

Chryst served as San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach (1999-2000). Chryst implemented the no-huddle offense in San Diego in 1999, which led to Harbaugh enjoying the second-highest passing output (2,761 passing yards) of his 15-year career. The Chargers also completed the most passes (332) in 13 years with Chryst directing the offense and Harbaugh became the first quarterback in team history since Hall of Famer Dan Fouts to pass for 400 yards in a game, that year.

In 2009, Chryst was part of an offensive coaching staff that helped the Panthers become the first team in the history of the NFL to garner two running backs with more than 1,100 yards rushing in the same season.

The 2012 season showed Chryst's strengths and expertise as the teams quarterbacks coach in captializing on the strengths of the starting quarterback. Midway through the season, Kaepernick was named the teams starter. Chryst's quarterback duo of Kaepernick and Alex Smith, tied for the fewest interceptions in the NFL (8), ranked 4th in quarterback rating (101.2), and 4th in completion percentage (66.3).

You guys do realize that the offensive philosophy isn't just Greg Roman, it's also Jim Harbaugh. I like Chryst, but I don't think firing Roman after 2 games & trying to install new concepts would go very well either. We need to work the kinks out both offensively and defensively as players and coaches. We'll be fine, everybody take a deep breath.

Another thing. We didnt score in the second half we get the ball with around 5 minutes left down by 8. Instead of getting down the field and scoring quickly and having some time left in case we missed the 2 pnt conversion they play very conservative and play for a last second td with hopes of 2 pnt conversion. Very poor decision making if you ask me

"Very poor decision making..."

Sir, you're being too kind.
The funny thing in all of this, Kaep isn't even running the initial play. You cant blame Greg for that. KILL KILL KILL
Chryst is not experienced enough to be calling plays. My post is reasonable. Roman is promoted out of his responsibilities not fired. We need an experienced vet to call plays and adjust during game. Shanahan can do that. He takes advantage of talent aka 1994. He doesn't need to build anything. The pieces are already here.
I agree with this entire thread. Its not just the fact that we continue to run into the pile up the middle or vanilla pass plays, its that they are called in obvious situations as well.

The fact we dont use screens, sweeps, or any other change of direction type of plays is a joke. No long throws either.

We also need to take Crabtree out of the on last plays cause he cannot make a play for us. i think he is like 0 of 5 on them.

Anyone know when Anthony Davis is back?

You have Carlos Hyde and your giving the ball to bruce miller on third and one? Couldn't understand that one.
judging by our run/pass ratio, you'd never guess we just played against the 3rd and 1st worst run defenses from last year on a per carry basis

The offense is broken at a fundamental level. It's not just 3 runs up the middle, it's that this team even with the loss of Davis has 3 either current or former #1 receivers and two extremely talented runners. We're still acting as if Kap is the best runner on the team. We're still calling FB pass patterns. We're still not running screens. We're still not going with bunch formations. We're still not running when they expect pass or passing when they expect run CONSISTENTLY. And most of all, when our game plan has been effectively countered, we make NO adjustments.

So much this...

We don't look like an NFL team. There are NFL players on the field but we are consistently behind the rest of the league in play design and counter-punching
Whats the point in firing him his play calling has sucked for 3 years and hes still here why would they fire him now in week 2 of the season.
Roman has had a pattern of out thinking himself. CHI is one of the worst teams against the run and our game plan was pass heavy.

the philosophy is part chryst, morton, roman and Bo and the master chef is the "qb whisperer"....this has been a bad pot of gumbo couple of times too many

they didn't stop gore at any point and he only got 13 carries hyde only got 4. they were geared up to play the read option after what happened to them last week. so just smash them in the mouth and win the game.

my problem with roman is he didn't commit to something. he ran a cute offense instead of one designed to do something. if they're gong to load the box spread them out use all the wr's and te's and make them come out of it. no shots down the field nothing. why?
cause that's what roman does. as soon as i heard chris collinsworth say roman was upset he didn't get to use his plays against dallas because we were up so much (which pretty much confirms the fact that we went right into cruise control for the 2nd half of the game) i knew it was going to be a long night and it was. i can't tell you how many times we ran the same damn play action bootleg play to the point the bears new it was coming before they even finished the play.

we didn't run bunch formation 1 time. not once.

not 1 single time.
