If we end up with a top-10 defense, and a winning record, will Mangini receive any HC'ing offers?
I don't think he will. He might get offers to be the DC for another team with an increase in salary though.

He can't leave for a lateral move. Only way he could go is for a promotion, i.e. Head coach.

Won't happen imo, some guys are just better suited for coordinator positions. Plus I don't think owners will go for retreads unless you were successful at some point of time during your other stint.Originally posted by ronniefreakinlott42:Originally posted by InsertNameHere:If we end up with a top-10 defense, and a winning record, will Mangini receive any HC'ing offers?

I agree w/ you, Insert, but you know only too well the problem. Let's say Mangini has the kind of yr the first game presaged....ie, mangini's D is outta sight fantastic. You know, that deep down , some doormat team, eg, oh say Cleveland, wants to break out of its rut...and hires mangini, as HC. Even tho he did poorly as HC before, there will be a handful of teams willing to take on a top flite DC as HC....which we all know is a huge mistake, but you know someone will do it.
And do I think Mangini will have that kind of yr...with only 1 game under his belt? Answer: yup. My preference is not to think about it, see just how great his D becomes, and live with that this yr. Let next yr take care of itself. Personally , mangini was not a favorite of mine, but I had never seen his Ds before. He impressed me and he did it in spades. The guy is a D genius...and that is after only a PS and a brief, 6% of the regular season. It is easy to see where he is going wth this D and the top of the pile looks achievable.

We dominated game 1 last year as well. I was encouraged by what I saw on offense and defense, but we will see what he does against a vet QB like Ben next week. One game does not make a season, but admit I liked what I saw.
So how about that Mangini defense? Dude effin sucks. The Niners D looks completely unprepared for this game. How many times are we gonna let Brown get behind the Defense?

There were some questionable coverages being called in the MIN game that could've been exploited by Bridgewater. My question is, are those same coverages beiing displayed and exploited by Ben, or is Ben just really hot right now?

2nd quarter deep pass TDs were what sank this game. Scheme failed against a top-tier QB as we expected may happen. Need to clean it up going forward.

Without looking at the film I'd say both. Ben is completely on target so there's no margin for error for the DBs. Then you add some error and you get the scheme being exploited + mistakes killing ya.

This game falls on Mangini. Wow. What terrible calls and coverage calls. I can't believe it. How do you leave WR open like that on the redzone?! How is a LB covering a WR?! DID THEY EVEN WATCH THE TAPE?! WTF did Mangini do all week!?

Mangini will have to work on the secondary coverages - fast!
next week look for Carson Palmer to exploit what they'll see on film this week.
Our Pass Rush was invisible.
