Because Fangio never allowed a top QB to chew up his defense... Oh. Wait. Denver game last year.

One game guys. Not a trend yet. We'll see how they react next week in Arizona.
Forget talking about the past.

Haley owned Mangini today. They had guys wide open and were making huge plays down the field. Mismatches and empty areas were exposed all game long. It was just too easy.

They also made a lot of penalties and it didn't even slow them down. They were scoring at will and there is no way we can win shoot outs. We are just not built for that.
Haley and Big Ben ate Mangini's scheme alive and s**tted it out.
Mangini needs to fix the coverage from the secondary before sending them on blitzes

How much did Arizona score today an Green Bay the week before?

Who has better talent?

i think he outsmarted himself today.
today he needed to just be logical. keep someone over the top and that stops their offense. they weren't running it effectively.
just put someone over the top and don't leave wilhoite in on passing downs and it's a much closer contest.

This doesnt have to turn into Famgio v Mangini. Its irrelevant and theres plenty to talk about otherwise.

Haley had Manginis play sheet...simple. The secondary was confused and we had no rush. Shootouts hapoen and we werent prepared offensively to handle it. Pass rush and young secondary...all the ptoblems we knew we had.

Wilhoite throwing up his hands 50 tards doenfield after covering a WR. Kinda demontrates what kinda day it was.

Im guessing the gameplan was too complicated in the secondary. Our guys back there are young at the corners and I think Mangini mighta been too fancy.

+1 I wish some posters would knock this off
Blitzes aren't going to work against elite vets.
We will suck vs any veteran QB because they don't get rattled by tricks on defense. This was my concern about trick defenses in the beginning of the year. Fangio was good because he forced veteran QBs to be patient when they are accustomed to making big plays.
Mangini is laying it out on a platter for experienced QBs. I'm sorry folks, but top ten QBs will pick us apart if we want get to them.
with a game like this you have to see the tape

I think he will make the necessary adjustments. Games like these happen to all coaches, the key thing is not to make a habit out of it. Even Bill Walsh coached teams got railed pretty horribly at times. 1986, 49ers losing 49-3 to the Giants comes to mind.

But the adjustments are going to be especially crucial since you can take it to the bank that the Cards will test this defense deep repeatedly next week.

Go look at the Cards last season, it was pretty damn effective for them against all sorts of QB's. The key is getting the timing right and it seems like everyone was a step too slow today. From the vet guys such as Bowman and Brooks to the younger players. The entire team seemed to be infected by some sort of malaise.
