Well we did double Antonio Brown...but both our cover guys were always five steps behind him.

Can someone for the life of me please explain how we continued to let Acker stay 1 on 1 with Brown all game ?
safeties had a terrible game (when heyward-ay-bey-bey burns double coverage on both safeties for an easy TD, yeah thats a bad game) , but mangini gameplan wasnt good. first, those disguised coverages only hurt us because reid/bethea could not get back in time to help to cover brown. second, he backed off his blitzes when it was clear 3 man rush wasnt working. Id rather blitz and get burned for short gains on dumpoffs than sit and watch deep completion after deep completion to the best offensive player on the field.

with fangio we could get pressure with 3 or 4 men and be bend not break. if we arent bend not break, and keep on breaking on long completions, you HAVE to adjust. we did not adjust.

I don't believe the team ever gave up 48 under Fangio. Mangini had a terrible week.

Magini hasn't given up 48 points either

Fangio just gave up 48. LMAO
I think folks are way too concerned about the coaches and not concerned enough about the players and the true level of talent they have.

All off season, they talked about game planning around player-strengths. This, clearly, was NOT one of those games.

Reset.

Mis-typed, sorry about that.
I do not believe the team gave up 43 under Fangio.

Got close, Denver clobbered us 42-17 last year.

not quite, unless we're counting pick sixes against defenses
Well, a brite spot depending on where you stand is that now the worry about will mangini take a HC slot next yr if his D is fantastic this yr...that worry is now gone until the next time the D has a good outing. In response to that question I said last week , "Well, let's just let the yr play out and we'll see if his D is fantastic or not." Then whoever can worry about whether we have to worry about him taking a HC slot elsewhere. So far, doesn't look like too much to worry about.

OTOH, I sure would like for us to have that dilemma, in that then that means our D played out of their skulls for the yr. It looks like that train got derailed...a bit.

I dont think one can make any long-term conclusions after two games. way too small of a sample size. we can have a great defensive showing as soon as this week or we might not have it until we play a team with crappy offense.

Not so fast. Turner and McCarthy got head coaching offers after head scratching production.
