Experience will help that. Right now, they are taking major bumps and bruises. I will say this, ANY team with a talent can make up for batch coaching UNLESS the coach is calling goal line vs a 5 WR set at the 50 yard line. These guys just need to learn the spacing.

Spacing issues aside, good QB's are going to be able to beat this defense almost everytime without a consistent pass rush.

But we are headed in the right direction in terms of the DL. Armstead looks like a very nice pick and possible anchor. Brooks is the only player who appears a little unmotivated. Still think Mangini needs to trust Lynch and the front 3 a little more. I also want to see Percell. Dude has very quick hands and seems like he has some upside.
They need to sit TJE and play Purcell.

To play Purcell you pretty much have to sit Ian Williams who has been getting almost every single snap at NT.

Exactly! Especially when the defense is playing base against a 3 WR set! I have no idea what Mangini is thinking but it's awful!'

Credit goes to thl for the gif.

Two guys wide open across the middle of the defense, these are the big gaps that I was talking about. This is a scheme issue. The receivers are passed off by the LB's and there is a big gap before the safeties get to them. This is free money for a veteran QB.

I can just imagine the smile on Rodgers face when he watches the film of this game.

I think every receiver was open on that play.

Yup. Palmer coulda thrown that up blindfolded and hit a receiver. Every single receiver was open. Mangini is garbage.

This is on Mangini. This is what I'm saying, we're in 'base' against a 3 Wr set!

I thought we were going to play four safeties at times and am disappointed Tartt and Ward aren't in more on these plays. They can cover much better than a LB and are also tough at the LOS...as is Reid.

I'm hoping they play very different coverages or personnel against the Packers or they will experience the same result. Rodgers is a better QB than they've faced so far...so...

You're right about not having the 4 safety set in more in AZ. Especially since Arizona, without Iupati in, isn't considered a strong running team.

That looks to be on Reid. Where was he going ? Letting the WR get behind him.

He got caught flat footed, not sure why he kept creeping up, the LB had responsibility for Fitzgerald initially, Reid moved up too far and Larry ran right by him.

As a safety you never let the receiver get behind you. Our safeties have been constantly out of position that last 2 weeks.

It's a cover 3. Reid is in the right spot because he has underneath. Bethea and the 2 CBs have deep third. Problem is that Bethea had to stay because of the seam route. Wilhoite or that LB on the top should have dropped back a little deeper since there was no route from the backfield. This would have let Bethea move over to get to Fitz sooner. Fitz ran his route smack dab in between Bethea's and the CB's third responsibility.

Reid's responsibility was the shorter route since he was already coming down. The LB's needed to take a deeper drop to eliminate that throw.

There was no threat of a route out of the backfield. LB's played this wrong.
at least i'm saving DVR space not saving these games we get our asses beat in.

Those are big mistakes imo. Mismatches all over the field, and helps explain part of the reason why pass rush has been non-existent. Our best pass rushers spend nearly half the time dropping back in coverage. Mangini has some serious explaining to do. This is the exact opposite of putting players in a position to succeed.
