Agree. I'm going to be patient this year and see if their is progress each week. If they can put more and more together each week then all's well.

People the defense has been s**t all year outside of the 2 home games. People fail to realize that it's Eli manning who beat us. Time and time again he has done this throughout his career. The niners literally have one player that can pass rush and Eli was moving around back there like he was Big Ben, Romo or Wilson. The defense had opportunities but couldn't convert. Often times those plays are the difference in the game.

Watching Bowman give his interview after the game breaks my heart.
Mancini for the love of god just play what works man.
Are we last in the league in sacks? we had 5 in the first game, I think we only 3 or 4 since. Eli was never pressured tonight.

Lynch was getting pressure, but Manning was letting the ball fly in 3 seconds or under. Our defense downfield wasn't helping our D-Line. Manning didn't really even have to go through his progressions as his #1 or #2 receiver was open most the night. It's hard to get sacks when the QB lets the ball go in under 3 seconds.

The winning TD was thrown between the two vets...Bowman and Bethea. Was a good pass.

Seeing as how this thread is about the defense, I am surprised you aren't embarrassed for this 49ers defense. 500+ yards. 30 points. Gave up game winning drive. Mangini, from what I knew of him when he was first named DC, was a 3-4 DC that came from Belichick's coaching tree. He has not carried over the pattern matching schemes that he should know. That's what I am most upset about.

Yeah, the TD catch was a great pass and catch. Tip your hat to that. It's the whole 3 quarters before that and that final drive.

That's how I feel. Guys played hard and deserved to win. I don't think Mangini is getting the most out of the talent on defense. Tonight's performance was inexcusable. Not just the final drive, he called a very bad game.

Mangini doesn't have the pieces yet. His secondary is young and stupid, he only has one pass rusher, and his schemes are known to be complex. It's gonna take time for the players to be comfortable in his scheme. But Baalke does need to get another pass rusher to pair with Lynch. (I don't know why Tomsula started Lemonier over Harold. I want to see what Harold can do)

Mangini doesn't deserve any pieces. If he's stupid enough to play the wrong coverage every week
he doesn't deserve the time it would take to find his guys.
