When you send safeties and try to cover with LBs bad things can happen...like Wilhoite covering Larry Fitzgerald thirty yards down the field. Would have been interesting to see if he could have had them playing well, but I'm not sad with a change. The young guys on this team have talent and the team will add more this year. All good!
In his defense, we NEEDED to blitz. The only consistent pass rush we had was Lynch. Had he not thrown these blitzes at the QBs they would have had all day to throw (more so then they already did).

Pretty much true due to cutting A Smith, but it's part of his style. Fangio talked about blitzing but then said he was disappointed the SF LBs didn't know how to blitz. But Fangio's DBs played off the line quite often, especially late in games.

Beyond the Minnesota game we had no pass rush. I'm fine.

I just wonder how legit this firing is? Is it normal to be interviewing DC candidates and even make an offer to one (Vrable) while Mangini is still on the team? I can only assume he felt very disrespected and probably asked to be released. Its like actively searching for a wife while you're already married. Who would go for that?

Anyone beginning to think Coach Kelly has been looking at some game tape and has Made a few decisions as to who wasn't doing the job and who he wants to place into his system...? Both players and Coaches...seems like Trent is buying into it, aka , "as in do something now or you'r next".

Maybe he was mulling an offer from the team at another position?
Maybe he wasn't available for a final meeting?
Maybe he was fired on Monday night and it was just released?
Too many unknowns to speculate

This! As much speculation as there has been it seems silly to continue to assign motives except for party talk. I suppose we could even speculate that Kelly was punishing Mangini for Belichick.... I like the notion they were reveiwing video of the games, talking to players and gaining insight into who should be retained.
