It's a good way of looking at it...and that very experienced coaches he DID hire clearly, had respect for him and took the jobs to work under him. So his reputation is stellar among, at least, the defensive community which is standard among head coaching hires...they typically have expertise on one side of the ball plus are highly respected within the coaching circles on at least that side of the ball; this is critical b/c a FO needs a HC who can bring in an entire staff (it's more than just one hire).
Offensively, fortunately, he and Geep saw eye-to-eye and he already had a tremendous working relationship and success with Steve Logan as well. He also already had the best RB coach in the game in Rathman, and brought in a very successful Chris Foerster & Eric Wolford (zone blocking scheme) along with a proven TE coach in Tony Sparano and especially a proven WR coach in Adam Henry with Ronald Curry already on staff to catch him up quickly with our personnel.
In fact, doing a side-by-side comparison, this may be the best coaching staff we've had here in a very long time...compare them now to the rest of the NFL and you can see why Cossell called this a very underrated coaching staff.
At the end of the day, JT will still need to drive it all in one direction and Geep and Mangini will have to prove themselves on game days. The good news is that all three have some experience in these roles and seem to have been preparing for this day for a long time. So we'll see.
u have confidence in GEEP? i'm very skeptical. tomsula wanted chudzinski from what i recall and settled on geep after trying for bob bicknell also
