One reason to be optimistic is group dynamics and the likelihood the coaches will learn from the past.
During the past few years, Geep suggested passing plays to Roman who called running plays, selected between the two and sent them to Harbaugh and CK. Geep no doubt had many times where his play wasn't used but would have been very effective. He will also likely try to avoid making Roman's mistakes in the way he works the playcalling duties. The fact that they are working on streamlining the system indicates his understanding and desire to fix these problems before they emerge with the new coaches.
On top of this, Tomsula is Logan's patron saint and will listen to him if things go awry...which will keep Geep from being dismissive toward Logan. It may create some friction but it will also make the relationships more transparent.
Mangini, on the other hand, watched Fangio and his coaches from the opposite side of the ball. He knows the defensive players, their strengths and weaknesses and has added some very capable assistants (or Tomsula did). He will be more aggressive, which a healthy and active A Smith will help to succeed. He will also have Lynch with a year of experience, Brooks with Tomsula as HC...which may inspire Brooks or bring about moving him. Mangini was also a successful DB coach under Belichick and has a great group of young backs to use in various schemes depending on their strengths.
What may help Mangini teach a more aggressive style? Tarte, Reid, Ward, Bethea and McCray are a great group of safeties and they have such diverse skills and abilities Mangini will no doubt have fun designing defensive sets to take advantage of them. The CBs are young and may need help early on to avoid being fooled. Bethea and Reid will be key to helping them understand their duties.
OLBs with incredible talent. Adding Harold to the mix was almost embarrassing! If Lemonier is as improved as advertised they will have five OLBs capable of wrecking havoc!
If the DL can stay healthy, Dockett/Williams/Dorsey and Carradine/Dial/Armstead, it will be very effective. The key will be the middle and whether Williams can hold up for the season.

As much as I'd like to see this happen...don't think he wants to give up on the 9ers just yet!

I like your take on this.

Except that Chryst is the intellectual on the team who went to an Ivy League College and is quiet by nature. Logan is a good old boy, let's fire up the trucks and go get a beer kind of guy. So I see their roles as Chryst: administrator of the goings on, and Logan: fire and brimstone...as in point, aim and fire.
The key to their working together is whether the offense works...no matter how good they are or aren't, if the offense takes off they will be given much credit...especially after the past four years.
Keep forgetting this is the Mangini thread! So...he'll be good......hmm, where's my kool-aide, it was here a minute ago...oh! here it is...Super Bowl Win #6!

Geep was hired after Tomsula and Logan. If Logan was Tomsula's boy, then there wouldn't be a need to hire Geep if Tomsula thought Logan can do it all
You're making something out of nothing with Logan/Geep/Tomsula
lol, not really and u just proved my point, logan was hired b4 geep....geep didn't get to hire his on qb coach
there is a dynamic there that will be interesting to see and hopefully isn't an issue
time will tell
This is not true, like I posted in another thread. Once Tomsula was hired one of the first coaches mentioned as staying on were Rathman and Geep. Those were the only 2 coaches we knew would stay. For all we know Geep was the OC from the get go. But to say Logan was hired before Geep is not factual. Geep and Rathman were the first coaches hired because they were retained from the previous staff.
Now if Tomsula loves Logan so much then why wouldn't he hire Logan as OC and Geep and qb coach? Clearly he thinks Geep is a better fit as OC and to run the offense, not Logan

Well Geep has more in-game experience with most of the current players so would only make sense that he became the OC.

Yes, not yelling but enthusiasm and energy. That's what I see with him. Didn't mean to indicate he isn't smart...just not a quiet intellectual type.
