I agree with those saying a disciplined 4 man rush is the way to go. Force RW to beat the defense by making coverage reads and throwing over his own OLine. That doesn't mean a will timed blitz won't hurt, but like most blitzes, it better get home or the defense gets burned, and getting home versus RW is harder with him being so slippery.

Here's a nice disciplined rush, that does not allow him to roll right, which is when he is most dangerous. TJE and RayMac stay in the middle, but it's Brooks who has the most disciplined assignment. When RW tries to escape to the right, he can't.

RW loves to roll right, makes sense for a right handed QB, and it's important to have someone waiting for him:

Always coming with the knowledge. Do you see aaron lynch as someone who can play with similar discipline like brooks?

Mangini utilizing the 4 man rush when he coached Clev and Jets was last in the league.

4 man rush is efective with a BEAST 7 man front (the good ol days), not sure we are in that category anymore. He will and has to mix it up to make up for it

Well it depends if you have the passrushers. I think we still do with aldon, aaron lynch, tank, dockett, and dial/

Lynch seems very aware of his surroundings and where he is on the field. His eyes aren't fixated on the OLman in front of him and as a result he's batted down a number of passes at the line of scrimmage. It's a matter of coaching and I think it's "easy" for an edge rusher to tell himself not to get too far upfield. Stay in position and wait for Aldon to flush RW towards the right.

yep,, we got a sticking field goal out of that deal
My main point in a post a couple pages back is that unless Wilson no longer has Lynch, there isn't much a defense can do because focusing on Wilson means asking for Beast Mode. Unless a team is up 3 scores to truly show Wilsons ineptness as a QB, Lynch will always be the key factor.

Best way to slow down that offense is to run blitz a lot but watch out for RB wheel routes. Blitzes go after Lynch more than Wilson but contain Wilson and force him to throw up prayers all day. If Wilson throws 30+, SEA loses.

I had this terrible feeling in the 2013 NFCCG that we'd settle for 3 after the fumble on the first play

That's what was acceptable then far too often than not. GB settled for FGs vs SEA too whereas Pete put on the FG fake for 7. He played to win while McCarthy was trying to avoid the loss

We were classically conditioned that way for YEARS...even before HaRoman.
