Is seattles scheme complex compared to fangios?
Thl where are you?!!

I'd say what SEA does with their defensive front is more complex. SEA uses a lot of hybrid fronts, meaning on any given play, some of the players are two gapping while some are one gapping. Their backfield coverage is not complicated. They will either play cover1 or cover3. They will pattern match with their LBs when in cover3.

Fangio did not play as many hybrid fronts, but his secondary coverage calls easily trumped what SEA does in terms of variety. If you check out the 'Coverages and Concepts' thread, you'll see I was able find almost every coverage call using the 49er defense.

Is their simple coverage because they have Earl Thomas and Sherman back there?
its almost a zone, Sherman cant eve play both sides of the field and need to hold, and Earl only has speed and just plays center field

75% of their defense is pass rushing which they are good at. but they lost players and another is holding out. no pass rush no secondary can cover long amounts of time

I hope your right!!

Speaking of pass rush, I have a "feeling" ours might be fierce this year. At least I'm hoping it is.

I still feel that Seattle 2 years ago was better because they rotated there front D. They kept players fresh and there were able to keep going after the QB.

Let's hope we are relentless this year getting after the QB. I feel the D-Line/O-Line is what makes a team crank. I've always felt that way and i do not know why
Teams such as the jags Browns etc don't build from the trenches out?

Agree.

Our rotation looks VERY promising!

Thanks for all the work you do!

Thanks for clarifying that thl.

If you really think about it, some of the best defensive minds to coach in this league were former DB coaches, I believe there was a study on it.

Belichick
LeBeau
Capers
Fox
Carroll
Rob Ryan
Jim Johnson
Fisher
Bowles
John Harbaugh
Tomlin
Pagano
Austin
Spagnuolo

"Yeah, I love the defense! You said exactly right; he's (Mangini) like a mad scientist. A lot of things are the same exact play but guys are in different spots. So it's hard for the offense to figure it out. A lot of guys have to know a lot of positions...you can't only know what you're doing but what somebody else is doing. It's going to work well for us. I really believe it will."

thought i did. the main thing im enjoying is the level of excitement the players have. last year they didn't have this. it was robotic. it was well we should do this or that and we will compete. it seemed like the "well what are they supposed to say?" answers.

this season it feels sincere. it feels like they are excited to play AND have a legit chip on their shoulders to go out and prove.

I don't know how you came up with that from my post, so i can't answer
Well, you're saying ManGenius knows how to be a DC... so I'm also asking you (since I have my doubt) if you think he knows how to coach TE as well??

LMAO. I feel the same...no matter what, this defense won't be boring!

who's idea was it to have him coach the tight ends? lol

the funniest part about all of this is mangini was brought in to help the offense. give them input on what the defenses are trying to do and then our offense was supposed to see this and counter those things
CLEARLY we see that jim and roman and them did NOT want input. did not want a guy telling them what's going on or ever listen to his advice about things so they stuck him at tight end coach.

man the more stuff we see that the last group did on offense the more im optimistic about the changes coming.
