The only coaching hire that has made me confident over the preseason.

Actually Tony Soporano was a good hire as the TE's coach IMO and Clancy Pendergast too.

all of them are good hires. we just need to sure up the oline so we can showcase the rest. tight ends qb's and wr's

the db's have looked damn good haven't they?

the linebackers might not have been able to make the plays but the techniques were sound and they were in the right positions right?

special teams is a positive now..

Wasn't too fond of the Tomsula and Chryst hiring's, but we shall see.

If they'll play for Tomsula that's all you really need. The assistants being competent are the most important aspect as we saw the last 2 head coaching stints with this team.

Wasn't to fond of the Dennis Erickson and Mike Singletary hirings, not saying Tomsula will end up like that I just think Jed York could've did better IMO.

the last 2 im talking about singletary and harbaugh.

singletary both sides weren't good
harbaugh his defensive side was good. his offensive side never truly got it together and it reflected on the team.

THL, did you see where Bowman was lined up wide as a CB and the CB blitzed? Don't think I've ever seen that before?

Did not notice that play versus DEN. If Bow was lined up across from a WR, where was the CB lined up?

he was lined up out wide because denver had the running back out wide.

the dbs were all in the linebacker role threatening showing blitz and some came some didn't

it was actually pretty cool to look at lol

I didn't notice the RB out wide. Interesting considering they ran the ball on that play. Wonder if it was a wrinkle Denver went with to move Bow out of the play.

We are seeing what Mangini and the players mean with presnap confusion. The 4th rusher can be any one of the LBs on the field. Safeties showing false looks and rotating postsnap. CBs pressing, but bailing at the snap. Stunts and blitzes. We've talked about this all offseason, and it will be interesting to see the full playbook once the regular season rolls around.

To illustrate your point.

man to man on the outside, zone in the middle of the field
at the snap bowman is lined up in regular position no indication he's coming. they don't account for him, you can tell the rb isn't responsible for him because there is no blitz protection called he just goes and floats up to the line to help out.
bowman comes with the blitz.. before the rb can even react it's already over.

this is also especially great because mangini must know that the broncos like to take a shot at the end zone on 1st down because this could have easily been one of those quick routes or rub routes or flare or crossing patterns and the middle would have been wide open
but it's not it's a long developing route with a free blitzer right up the middle
beautiful all around

jones, thanks. The play you referenced was actually a blitz with 5 rushers. Mangini disguised it well, but the play below is a really good example of what I mean when I say the 4th rusher can be anyone.

Instead of rushing both of the OLBs, he drops one of the OLBs (Harold) into coverage and rushes one of the ILBs to overload the right side of the OL (4 man rush). There are 4 blockers on 2 rushers, then there's a 2v1 situation that allows Lemonier to come unblocked.

Moody was completely lost.

He was not. He was rotating to his hook zone. I broke the play down here:

it might have just worked out like that. it was funny seeing him out there giving the cushion though
Altho we just got a taste of mangini's blitzes, Bow got 2 sacks and a hit on Peyton in another blitz. It makes one wonder what that D will look like with out best 11 out there, depending on situation. You have to love mangini's schemes to date

just think, he's not even game planning specifically against teams yet.
this is just the flow of the game right time and situation calls. that is what we should be impressed with. no scouting reports and practicing all week for a specific thing. just let's do this..
