Dashon Goldson

I recall the guys from the niners nation podcasts, david and Oscar talking about this before. Reid is faster, and makes better scheme reads so he doesn't get caught out of position as often as goldson does. If reid doesn't get those concussions, he's just as lethal as goldson was hitting wise but still...the breakdown always seemed to be in coverage and keeping people from getting big plays on us.
Let's get him back here!!! I love Goldson...wont happen though.

Reid by a wide margin.

I agree. He's more reliable as far ad being where he's supposed to be. Dashon was a big hitter, but he liked to freelance a bit too much IMO.
Reid. Better in coverage. Can care less about the hits. All they do is cause flags.
Reid by far... The safety duo last year (when healthy) was a huge reason the DBs did so well. Our safeties have gotten better every year since 2012. Right now is the best the team has had back there in a long time.

I think that Reid is a better player, but being young and no experience, I think that he not knowing the ins and outs of our defense actually hurt the team.

That basically is the main difference... Goldson new the defense so well that he wasn't playing by instinct anymore..

so I have to go with Goldson..

Reid has 7 interceptions over the last 2 years to Goldson's 1. You prefer the guy with the 1 interception. You prefer the guy who has half the passes defended. You prefer the guy who has actually gotten suspended for illegal hits during the last two seasons to a guy who has a grand total of ZERO unnecessary roughness penalties.

I have no idea what to make of that.
I just personally think that Reid would not the player he is if he was playing for Tampa Bay..

Just look at the other FS (Barron) that the Bucs ALSO released (now with the Rams), those two just didn't fit the scheme..

Goldson was in his finally in his prime when Baalke and the team decided not to give him the money..

Goldson was never as good as his rep. Was never a fan.
Reid. But he has had way too many concussions. It scares me that he will retire early.

This. Couldn't agree more. I really like Reid and Bethea back there - we can only hope Reid won't continue having concussion issues.

Reid may be the next to retire -- what 3 concussions in two seasons already?

This!
Reid

There's no question that he benefited from great years by Whitner and now Bethea, but at the same time you could say he does well to learn from and play with vets.

Idiotic take. Goldson has been irrelevant when he's not in the news for his personal fouls.

Yeah, Goldson was ALWAYS looking for the ESPN big-hit highlight...hell, got MASSIVELY overpaid for it. Didn't work out b/c he was a very undisciplined player and gambled too much. Reid has MUCH more range, a much better team/disciplined player, etc.

Hands down
