The fact is the jury is still out on Eric Reid, I really thought he would develop into a star, although he did make the pro bowl his rookie year I believe, I haven't seen the maturation yet... Goldson really hasn't been that good since leaving SF so to answer the question... We are better off with Eric Reid moving forward.

lol oh yeah?

Lol wow... u really think reid at any point was better than Goldson in his prime? Please bro.... what were u watching??
Dashon Goldson Night and Day better then Eric Reid ever will be. The moment Dashon left for big bucks was the moment our defense went soft. At least Dashon has the Balls to take on Marshawn Lynch and Reid in the 2013 NFCCG chickened out.

Donte "Hitner" was a HUGE part of the nasty secondary as well... I'd say after Whitner left our D went soft, but everyone saw that coming in the flip flop basically of Whitner for Bethea.

PFF scores really dont mean s**t IMO watch the games. Goldson was an impact player. Opposing offenses feared him. Reid had just been "ok" at best.

Give me a break. Goldson was a reckless moron who committed stupid penalties every week. He took advantage of an elite front 7 and just hung back and played ball hawk, or just tried to lay a shoulder into someone. He couldnt tackle, and he couldnt cover. Both kind of important skills for a S to possess.

He was SO overrated. All the fans just loved his big hits and his dreads. He got exposed as a fraud the minute he left the Niners.

Remember all those times he got burned because he didnt know his assignent, and Whitner had to explain to him where he should've been?

The only thing opposing players ever "feared" about him was taking a late helmet to helmet shot in a defenseless position.

Reid has been mediocre, but he doesnt hurt us. Goldson killed us with penalties and poor coverage. Its just funny that people still remember Goldson like he was some elite player. I watched every game he ever played as a Niner, and was never fooled by it.
Say what you want but we were better when Goldson and Whitner were here

Goldson had 6 picks. They are very comparable stats wise. They played at pro bowl levels while being with a good defense. Both have struggled on bad defensive teams.

Goldson plays more aggressive. Reid more timid no doubt due to his concussion history.

Goldson is going into his 10th year. Reid his 4th. Will Reid last 10 years in the league? I think they are very similar players.
With the hostility some folks are showing toward Goldson, you'd think he slapped their momma or something.

Reid probably won't last 10 years in the league. If he even looks at a ball carrier the wrong way he ends up with a concussion.

You do realize Goldson had a better yr than Reid this season right?
Goldson had 110 total tackles, an INT, and a TD..

Reid had 71 tackles... no INTs...

And Goldson isint even in his prime anymore!

I guess some people rather have gentle giants. The Hawk was a beast. ill take all those penalties just so the opposing team knows we out here to punish you
