I do agree that our front 7 needs to be revamped and think that both our lines need to be a priority come FA and the draft, if we want to become a competitive team again.

Like I've stated earlier in this thread, it was the right time to move on from Goldson when we did. Because the league was really starting to crack down on his style of play and he certainly wasn't worth his asking price. However, it is yet to be seen whether Reid will live up to his potential which has a higher ceiling than Goldson's but has yet to surpass it. That's all I'm trying to get across.

Never said he didn't get beat every once in a while...how has he not surpassed Goldson? He's avg more tackles and INTs per season compared to Goldson along with not having the same quality of player around him (including coaching staff) compared to Goldson.

If you don't think Reid is a better all around FS that's fine it's your opinion...I guess we will just agree to disagree

Hey. Atleast we finally agreed on something.

Disagree that Goldson is a better FS overall but i wouldn't exspect you to say a Baalke pick was better...

Dashon has created way more turnovers and had made a much much bigger impact whether you like it or not. What has Reid ever done in his 3 years as a 49er?? Reid will never see a contract like Dashon got 5 years $40 million.

Based on both their stats Reid has had more tackles and INTs per season compare to Goldson. Dashon avg .5 more FF per season...so no your actually wrong. We both know who's had more PI calls.

that contract was a horrible contract. He clearly wasn't worth the contract because he's not in Tampa anymore ...he was a fine player, but he should have given some of that cash to SFs front 7.

Dashon was a 4th rounder, Eric Reid was a 1st rounder not worth it. Reid has been false advertised. Not a physical player like he was made out to be and nowhere near a turnover machine Dashon has been since Dashon has been a fulltime starter since 2009 2010ish.

Both players right now are bad

Once again you dodge my statement...you said his numbers were better but based on a per season stats Goldson's stats aren't better just not...ones heading into his 10th season on a downward spiral and the other is only going into his 4th.

I like Goldson but he wasn't worth $40 million and it's shown once he left that he wasn't worth it..,there's no point agruing with you because of how bias you are of Baalke players anyway.

Crazy thing is it NOT 20 years ago and all those players are rolling around with head injuries. You have to adapt to the league and a ball hawk FS is much more important than a knucklehead throwing his helmet all over the place...

"Once again, Redskins' teammates make this team at the same position, and it's no less depressing/scary than before. Goldson is here thanks to equal struggles in coverage and run defense. Coverage-wise, Goldson grades out at 43.4, which is 82nd among 85 safeties in the NFL. He's missed 12 tackles, including eight against the run, compared to 13 run stops. No safety in football has a lower run defense grade than Goldson's 29.7"

Whether you think it's a p***y league or not it doesn't matter, 15 yard PIs and missed tackles because your trying to go for the big hit all the time kills defensive stops.

I'm all for a big hit as long as it's legal... I like our future with this two guys

Eric Reid is a better player than Dashon Goldson. He's faster. He has better field vision. He is a very good tackler. He's better in coverage.

Eric Reid is faster, a better tackler, has better field vision, doesn't get beat deep nearly as much and is a much better coverage guy.

I like Dashon Goldson. I like his style of play. But, it's not the way the NFL wants the game played these days. Hard for me to believe there are NFL fans who still don't get that. For today's game, I think Reid is better. If it were still the 80's or the 90's, I'd still think Goldson was the better option, but it's 2016. Time marches on.
