BTW, this is another subtlety in the Shanahan > McVay convo that's not even offense related.
McVay on some level HAS to co-opt this move...….means he wants Ramsey about as much if not more than Snead.
SMH. Unreal

How do you go all in on this season when you're 3-3 and just got absolutely dismantled by a division rival? Lol wtf

As others have mentioned this is a move of pure desperation. Do not get me wrong it does make them them better right now but not by that much. It doesn't win them that 49ers game that's for sure. The rams are a team that seem to have no regard for the future and is completely living in the now. It worked out for them the past two years but eventually that strategy is going to come back and bite you and this Ramsey deal is going to be the one that bites them. They are going to have to make Ramsey the highest Paid CB in the league very soon. They are a team that needs to build back up there fronts but now they are going to have no 1st rounders the next two years and no cap space to address it in free agency. This move makes them slightly better right now but I still think they finish third in the division. They better hope they are really good after this trade because they are going to have very little resources at there disposal to improve that roster if they are not.

Two 1st and a 4th for Ramsey + you have to pay him again glad we didn't do the trade. We need to keep developing our young players plus we still have to resign Kittle, Defo and Armsted.

I guess this helps sell PSL's at the new stadium. Probably their # reason for doing this.

So someone explain the implications of their salary cap situation should they extend Ramsey, and ours
They'll have like $40 million to spend on like 20-25 players.
They are paying huge contracts to Cooks, Gurley, Goff, Donald, will be paying $13 million to Ramsey and will have to replace most of their OL, add edge rushers and LBs as well as re-sign/extend a bunch of players.
Even a bunch of their fans are confused by the move since OL was the biggest need by far.
I dont think gurley would be back unless he signs for a cheap deal
His 2020 roster bonus $7.55M became fully guaranteed on Mar 2019. Even a post 6/1 release would result in $17M dead cap in 2020 and $8.4M dead cap in 2021. The Rams cannot realistically get out of the contract.

Just saw this and initially I was a little distraught but then I see 2 first round picks plus. Yeah, f**k right off.

Was thinking the same thing.
A year ago they traded for Peters, traded for Talib (two CB's already!), traded for Dante Fowler, traded for Brandin Cooks...
I feel like it's getting to a level where they're just trading for big names just for the hell of it. I understood it a year ago and even mentioned that they were trying to go all in with their championship window to win the LA crowd over the Chargers while they have the chance.
Now it just feels silly. No CB is worth two 1sts and change. Maybe Deion Sanders but that's it. The only time I would ever trade multiple 1sts is for either a good QB or a very good edge rusher.

Going all in for any star at their position makes sense when that is your only significant weakness.
Not sure it's the right move when you have five areas of weakness. Now you have no realistic shot to address them.

You two act like they don't still have a first found pick in 2022.
That OL help is only like 35 months away.

He's a great player and will certainly elevate their defense, but after the last few weeks if I'm a rams fan I'm more worried about the offense.
If the offense can pull it together they will be dangerous in the playoffs for sure.
All that being said they gave up a s**t ton so they better hope it all comes together for this season. The NFC is tough.
