It's also all about that cap relief and having them for 5 yrs if you want.

Ramsey is a stud BUT he's still just one player. Throw in its football and players can and will get hurt. Having like 4/5 players eating up like 80% of your cap isn't smart imo. They basically gave up at least 3 rookies and more than likely Fowler for him.

Ya I mean, that's kinda my point. NE doesn't value them as much and they are known to move them and it works out.

Pretty sure Kyle did just fine vs that Jags D (with an overall better defenses than LA) in 2017.

that was 2017.. and how did Kyle do against everyone last year??

LOOK, on paper, the RAMS gave up too much.. but bottom line, you ALL need to consider the fact that Jalen can make the Rams defense better while they rebuild the OL issue. The guy will still be in his PRIME while our WRs are getting ready to blossom up.. and in my opinion, that's a PLUS for them because they already have a corner that can deal with any WRs we may develop.

Had we gotten Jalen, he'd be perfect for the spot because Sherman is done after this year, I'm already saying that he's the weak link of our defense right now (aside Arik) and I see him moving towards that FS position.

Jalen can man the LCB spot, while eMan and Spoon can compete for that RCB position.

They have no 1st rounders for 2 years

They also have Michael Brockers, Cory Littleton and Dante Fowler as free agents.

Right? Uh oh, Pettis or Deebo or Goodwin may have a quiet game next time we face them... how will we ever survive that?!

They are done, they mortgaged their future for the present which is something Lynch has always said he won't do. The bulk of their cap space will be on 4 players, donald, gurley, goff and now ramsey and with no 1st rounders the next 2 years. In 2 years they will become the doormat they used to be. Idiots!

This. And he still has to pass a physical for back issues. Way too much given upon for an iffy player.
All Ramsey is gonna do is help the Rams get to 8-8

Lol.

Is this due to not having faith in Peters and Talib? Or is that what Phillips chooses to run regardless?

Talib has not been at or near the top of his game for two years, plus, he is a rather odious character.

Peters is...Peters - a talented head case that does not appeal to the feel-good Hollywood crowd that buys high-end tickets.

Peters was off to his best start in three years, but there wasn't room in the locker room for both the Mouth of the South and Marcus the Magnificent.
Either the rams are in win now mode and say eff the next few years after or they plan on purging a lot of contracts soon

And? With Garoppplo the 49ers mercced the Jaguars with Ramsey and that was a much better defense overall than the Rams.

With Garoppolo the 49ers are averaging almost 400 yards and 30 points a game. As good as Ramsey is he can only defend one man on the field at any given moment. Teams will simply pick on the CB across from him.
lol in 2020 they have almost $109m tied up in 5 players. Two of them being a broken Gurley and a QB who hasn't shown he can succeed despite the talent around him. McVay making those Gruden comparisons hold more water.
If you're giving up 2 firsts, why not make a play for Trent Williams? Someone that can actually address a need?

If I were a Rams fan, I'd be livid.
Maybe their thought process was that their second (for the next couple years) will be a glorified first round pick because they'll do so bad. Which means the Jags will have a pretty amazing pick(s) for the next couple of years.
