He could literally drop a deuce at the 50 yard line and walk out of the stadium and still get mega paid this offseason. It's over. He's getting paid.

We need to tag him, let's see just how much of a priority he is then.

Just think if he didnt miss so much time during tha 2016 & 2017 seasons we could have seen these kinda numbers last yr ...

Doubt it. He's reaping the benefits of playing alongside Buckner, Ford and Bosa with new coaching that is finally using his skill set properly. Outside of Buckner none of that was there last year.

Yea because dominating for an entire season isn't enough apparently 💪

Even if we did, I'd rather the path that actually happened. People keep proposing these scenarios where we end up missing out on Bosa. I don't understand it. "If only the 49ers started Montana all of 1980, then we may have won more than 6 games." Yeah..we also end up missing out on Ronnie Lott. Perspective.

Great players find ways to shine no matter who is around them. He is very good and should get paid, but not top dollar. He's good but not elite.
Armstead is already making 9 mil per year. If we cut McKinnon and Goodwin, that would free up another 8 mil. He's probably going get about 15 mil per year.

I feel like he's a bit over-hyped now though. He's a good run stopper, but come on...him on his own is not going to get pressures on the QB. His sacks are feeding off the other good pass rushers on our team.

They made their numbers because teams are focused on shutting down Armstead.

Why has our pass rush gone to crap since Ford went down?

Pressures are just as good. But nearly all teams have shifted to quick screens, quick passing and/or rollouts. Moreover, we played far more mobile QBs in the 2nd half of the season than the 1st.

Armstead's pressure forces QBs out of the pocket. But without Ford they just roll out.

He is a perfect fit for our system at big end and nickel 3 tech. As long as Ford is on the team we will need a DT who can effectively pass rush from the edge on base downs. There will be a huge drop off from him to Thomas or Street. (Day and Blair are also free agents) I hope we can franchise him, and resign Ward and Sanders and try to keep the band together and take advantage of the championship window one more year.

It's not Ford. It's having 2 elite outside guys. It would be the same if Bosa was hurt and Ford was in there. The pass rush would drop off.
