No.

Agreed.
Tag him at the very least. If he's not a 49er next year then let's make sure we can get something in a trade for him and improve our draft options.

Letting him walk for a POSSIBLE comp pick is nuts. Just awful roster management.

Tagging him would cost 18m, that's way too much. Resigning is also going to be too much unless he takes a discount and which I believe he should. He was a bust until this year. Bosa and Ford (when healthy) took much of the attention which allowed him to be one on one. A new team is going to pay big $$ and want him to be their Bosa, which he's not. If he wants continued success, he stays.

Ford played a handful of games and disappeared when we needed him and he's injury prone. Armstead was a stud all year, I'll take the 18 mil hit. He was incredible this year, it's hard to find interior pass rush.
Dude kept allowing the edge for Mahomes to roll out.

"A bust until this year"... so, not a bust. In fact, one of the top rated DL in the entire NFL. So, he's a star.

"Will cost too much"... Nope. Niners nearly already have the 2020 cap space for a tag (should they want to trade), and a LTD will have an easy out...just like Paraag includes in literally every significant deal he's ever done (Kwon, Garoppolo, Ford, etc.). So the risk of long term damage from a bad deal is virtually non existent.

"A new team will pay him big"... not if he never sees UFA. Also, he is 100% going to the Seahawks or Cardinals if this team makes the dumb decision not to protect him. You think this team's IOL can hold up against Armstead? The answer is no.

Yes, he was incredible THIS year, where was he the last 4 years?? He was only good because of the supporting cast, he can't do it alone like Bosa can and that's what another team is going to expect. Plus we still have Buck, who's due for an extension. 18m is too high of a hit when you have other positions that need attention.

Why are you acting like the salary cap is an unmoveable object? Cap space can easily be manipulated. In fact, we have several candidates who are great candidates for a restructure or extension that will clear cap space.

What you see on 2/3/20 is not what will be available in six weeks.

He lost contain twice, Bosa did too but y'all are awfully lenient when he gets lost for some reason.

Mahomes is an athletic guy and very smart. When he realized we started getting pressure, he started sprinting outside the tackle box to prevent being trapped in the pocket. Not too many defensive ends can prevent that while simultaneously generating pressure.

It would have been a good time to call a slot corner blitz with K'Waun. But hindsight is 20/20

Yes

We have other issues with Defo, Kittle, Sanders, Juice, Blair all needing new deals and we still need to shore up the Oline and replace one of if not both of our safeties. Just keep developing solly and get Blair resigned and let them compete.
