It is up to them now to see if they can make things work without screwing themselves Financially down the line. It's not about not wanting to pay someone, it's about being smart. If there was no cap you can best bet AA would be locked up and this we wouldn't be having this conversation. That's all I am saying, it's not a myth and it certainly can stop teams from doing things.

Totally fair. I disagree a bit but it's all good. I just want them all back (possible too...but Lynch said he's done restructuring so that "choice" makes it far more difficult going forward and brings the "cap" much more into play).

If we lose a guy like AA, now we have to use another resource to TRY and find his replacement that's playing at a similar level...not easy.

What would be the reasoning for Lynch and Co. to not restructure anyone going fwd? I that was the key to keeping guys & opens up flexibility for the organization?
I don't get it?
I thought restructuring Jimmy G and a couple others AB pointed out frees up like $34 million?

I don't think that they are saying that they'll never restructure, just that they don't want to mortgage the future just for 2020. If they restructure everyone to pay them in the future then all those bills are going to come due in 2022 or so when everyones cap number is through the roof.

I'm old enough to remember a 49ers website called 49erscaphell.com? Or 49erssalarycaphell.com? I'm good on having to go through that again. That was a disaster.

I honestly don't know. Maybe the 5-6 players they asked weren't interested. Agents recommended against? Paraag? Given it's a win-win, I just can't think of a good reason against that tactic.
To answer the restructuring question, idk why they haven't redone Jimmy or Dee's deals, 1 thing to note is restructures are automatic so no more negotiating between agent and team, teams have the ability to just redo a deal, the 49ers are choosing not to. I can't see either McKinnon or Goodwin back at their cap numbers, so both should be redo's or cuts/trades.
We cant sign anyone without a restructure. We cant tag armstead. What gives?
Need to trade AA for a 2nd. Love that he stepped up this year but it had a lot to do with who was around him and being a contract year. Need to use that money elsewhere.
Not just aa. Ward sanders no one. Seriously? This is our window.

Probally because they want this team to be contenders a lot longer than a 2 year window. Restructuring helps the Niners for 2020 and maybe 2021 but what happens after that? Niners need to not waste Bosa and Kittle's prime years and that prime is atleast 5 more years for Kittle and 8 for Bosa. I would hate for the Niners window to be only 2 years.
