If you believe LaCanfora (according to him, 99 is the 2nd best player at his position after the other 99 in LA), the 49ers may be choosing between AA & Defo (with Buck the bigger priority).

I don't. They are working to get it done with AA and I think he is here for the short term future.

Gonna have to work on my "counting".

So if we can get a 2nd for Armstead in a tag and trade, does that probably make the most sense for us? AA had been mediocre his first 4 seasons with us, and then finally last year in a contract year, he has a CARER YEAR. Scary number that Armstead got like 80% of his sacks this season when Ford was on the field, and Ford only played like 25% of total snaps this season. I think Armstead isn't this player, production wise going forward, so we might as wel save that money for Buckner+Kittle, and get what we can in trade for him while we can.
Let Thomas basically play the same role that Armstead did this year with us, Play outside on base downs, and slide inside on passing downs. With the 2nd round pick we get for Armstead, I would definately draft a DL to help with our depth.

True, when healthy , Dee is hell on wheels coming around the LT. If we do keep Dee, it will then require yet another player to back him up. Arik, OTOH, is locked, loaded , and ready to go.

Because when Dee is on the field we're soooooo much better. He compliments Bosa/ Buckner to perfection. Having that speed rusher to go with the interior pressure is lethal. Just look at how many of AA/ Bosa's sacks came when Dee was on the field.

Very tough one because Dee is aging and injury prone. I want AA back badly but don't discount what Ford brings to the table. Even on the field 25% of the time he was a force for us.

But he tried hard to be ready for the SB and just couldn't do it. Therein lies the problem. So secure Arik giving us the golden 3 some. But if we keep Dee, he HAS TO have a backup/starter to replace him, and when we get those 226 snaps we are unbeatable. Unfortunately, that just isn't enough to get us thru a season.. talks about letting Arik go and keeping Dee? Just no way that makes any sense.

Eight of AA's ten sacs came with Dee on the field 25% of the time. The other 75% of the snaps, AA got Two Sacks. I don't want to say "what good is he?", but it ain't $19m in our situation.

According to Daniel Jeremiah, we just restructured Ariks contract to make it count only $12 mill this yr instead of 14 mil. Jeremiah also thinks we won't be able to keep Arik. I think he is dead wrong. If we got an offer on Dee, I would consider it carefully. 226 snaps just isnt enough to get us a SB win. Had he been in more than just some of first half, we win the game (IMO). But here we have to keep the guy who was on the field a lot this yr, and played lites out.

We do, however, need another Dee, but a healthy one. And it is true, each one of these guys makes the others look and play better. When Dee was in we had best DL in league. Unfortunately it just wasn't often enough.
