I'm not a fan of trading Buckner, but I'd expect a lot more holding on our Dline since referees aren't going to call it. Only way for us to improve is to have a more explosive offense. The offense in 2019 was very efficient- very few three and outs, moved the ball pretty well, and number 2 in scoring. But we need to add the knock out punch from the receiver position if we expect to stay ahead of the pack. I hope what we do in the draft is worth the sacrifice.
I hope you right with small step back. I don't think AA or DJ is ready to be double teamed every play and still make an impact.
Let's be honest paying a guy 21 million per season to take on double teams isn't ideal. Aaron Donald makes a much bigger impact than Buck did. Buckner was great but his contract demands would only grow playing next to the guys we have so it's smart to sell now. The move is unfortunate but if we nail the pick it will work out for both of us.
Pats didn't want to trade Chandler Jones but knew they couldn't pay him. It worked out for both teams. Pats won a couple of SBs. Cards got an elite pass rusher.
