I was bashing the guy earlier today. I was hoping we would take Carl Davis and trade back even further, but I guess Baalke and JT know better
Than all of us

The fact that 90% of the zone hates the pick makes me have hope for the dude.

Going in to the draft I thought Carl Davis would probably be a better DE than Armstead and that Armstead wasn't that much better than the likes of Edwards,Hardison or Anderson that were projected to go late 2nd to early 4th rounds.
Baalke probably would have been better served to try and trade back to about 22 and pick up an extra 3rd rounder. There is a good chance that Armstead would have still been on the board and even if he were gone we could have drafted someone else and had an extra 3rd to boot.
That being said what's done is done so we all just have to pray now and hope he is the 2nd coming of Justin Smith. With Tomsula (former D-line coach) as head coach and Baake running the show this one is entirely on them so let's pray they know something and they are right and this guy will be a stud.

Exactly. He said in his interview he wasn't asked to get sacks in Oregon defense. He was ask to be disruptive. He also said he played hurt last year. I think if he gets stronger he will be a good player. I'll wait and see and hope for the best.

Does this team need another project?

Damn people lol...if he can take on double teams and let smith and lynch run wild I'll be a happy man. You think Wilson will be able to see over this kid lol.

I'm optimistic for this pick especially if Jimmy T had a say in it, he probably won't have as much 1 on 1 time with the D line now that he's head coach but I know that Jim was super stoked to get lynch and he turned out to be a stud.
Also I'll give an obligatory relax fellas. That goes for the people railing against the negative posts, it's ok to be optimistic and it's ok to think he's gonna be a bust, lets hope it's not the latter though.

Smh. Good call. Guy hasn't even put on a 49er uni yet or played in the Niner defense. Why don't you see how he plays in the Niner defense before making that judgement?

Aldon pick was a 180 of this pick. Knee-jerk reaction from fans that didn't even consider Aldon to be the pick.
People have been seeing this pick coming for weeks. There's simply very little to like.
It didn't take long to watch Aldons highlights or his interview with Mooch to warm up. This pick is simply... ehh.

It doesn't matter. Baalke will draft some injured person who won't play or he will draft some scrub prospect. He can shove Farmstead up his ass!
Ruined my favorite time of the year with his idiotic pick.

I agree, Armstead will be given every opportunity to succeed here. Was he a sexy pick? Probably not, but with the 3 top WR's gone, Shelton gone, Waynes gone, this was a descent pick. I do wish that we could have moved back a little farther to get him, but if Baalke and Tomsula are that high on him, then we should be too.

You can fall off the wagon now… can't even remember 3 years ago smfh
Dude kind of reminds me of Calais Campbell coming out tbph. Watched his game against texas, he doesn't get pushed back and basically blew up the lineman every time he wasn't double teamed. He's young, athletic as f*ck and did what was asked of him for oregon. He wasn't asked to penetrate he was asked to hold the line and read the play and did that well. If he plays like he did in the 4th quarter against ohio state he will be a good pick, if he doesn't then oh well… whine about it.
