The year before that, they had Lynch and Armstead as top 10 pass rushers. But our defense sucked. Insane.

most of the people who cling to the pff thing are two groups. one trying to promote aa. one trying to promote thomas. oh and a third one. trying to protect acorn head.. most sane posters and objective fans have seen all they care to see of those three,. no offense to pff

Lol cc what are you talking about? How do people use pff to promote Thomas?? Nonsense comment
AA, best player on the defense according to PFF. It's a done deal folks. Extension coming soon from Lynch
oh good another article that only references PFF
We really need to get Arik Armstead blocked.

-no opposing coach ever
Better football player than Solomon Thomas. He's been playing really well here recently.

True. I hate to say it but I agree. Some layers just aren't good or never healthy which means they are worth a dam to any team.
Ward Mitchell and marsh have to go. Garnett isn't a system fit so him too. AA can stay but only at a deal maybe 6-7 mil a year for a few years. Not 9 mil option. He isn't worth that although he's improving. We have players like day and even street that may be just as good or better.

I want to see Street play before I commit. He is an interesting selection. With at least one quality edge next spring (oh please!) things could get very interesting.

Julian Taylor has flashed more than AA in the few snaps he gets here and there. Why the fk is this guy even suiting up anymore?

Yeah I was ready to give up on AA early this year but my mind has completely changed after the way he's played since about week 4. He doesn't quite have the finishing speed to sack from the edge, but remember Red Bryant was the same way for Seattle. He's basically a tackle playing end, so to be fair, it's unreasonable to expect him to be like Michael Bennett.

Only taken 4 seasons to see him as a good run defender...awesome

Seriously. Armstead is playing well in his 4th season. Do people want to go back to this thread at this point in his career as Thomas is in currently?

I get it...it sucks that Thomas isn't showing up after we invested a 3rd overall pick in him. But what was Armstead showing in his 2nd season? He wasn't dealing with the tragedy that Solomon is dealing with this year. Not everyone can brush off stuff like that and play at a high level.

They're giving Thomas snaps inside finally and he's starting to show some better play. I don't think it's a coincidence. Unless we fail in epic fashion this offseason we should be able to add edge rusher talent which should allow Thomas to go inside full time or majority of the time.

Let him go into the offseason with that in mind so he can work accordingly in the offseason.

As far as Armstead he's playing well, if we don't think shaving off his salary helps enough I have no problem bringing him back and letting him compete at big end in run downs.

All of this, honestly $9 million for what AA does well isn't close to worth it. If you could tell me they would use that cash go upgrade elsewhere then I'd pack his bags
