Is it to say well he played a full season and trade him to another team? Or just Kyle wanting to screw us to not get top draft pick?
Can't force him to have surgery when the teams wants it. AA can easily milk this injury and recovery until his $9 million is guaranteed.

Lawrence will never reach the market.
We have plenty of money to sign Thomas if he wants to join Uncle Sherm in sticking it to the Seahawks for hanging him out to dry with a tag.
There is no financial reason for moving Armstead. If we did we would just have to replace him with someone else. We need him for depth if nothing else.
Good post dj!
If Cards take Bosa - we could take Qwill and trade AA - there are guys like Blair that can step in too
I'm good with seeing what Blair can do too. There is no sense in having Armstead being your 4th highest paid player for just "depth" it sends the wrong message to the team in that we'll carry you even if you have been an often injured player that hasn't met expectations of being a former first rounder. Garcon has to go too.

If I was Lynch, I would be pushing AA to get the surgery on his hand, so he can be back for team activities. I would also be talking to him about an extension, but be looking to trade him once he can clear a physical. We just need to pray that the Cardinals take QW so we can have the edge rusher we need in Bosa.

Hearing John Lynch spit out the, "The best ability is availability" line while watching him draft Foster and exercise Ward and Armstead's 5th year $8-9M options had me .

Respectfully disagree.
We don't have any "Impact" guys on D - except for Buck.
IMO, we need difference makers and QWill is an immediate difference maker.
We don't need a bunch of good to average guys from extra picks - we need a violent, aggressive steam-roller to attack and cause havoc.
IMO, QWill is that type of player

I agree on QWill, if Bosa is gone, I would love to have QWill. Perhaps Lynch should be talking to teams about a Soloman trade, and see which team will give us the most for him, then make the deal contingent on Bosa going number 1. If Bosa is taken by the Cardinals, then we immediately make the Soloman trade, and then draft QWill at 2.
Question is, what would be better to get for Soloman? Draft picks or young players at position of need? Still hoping QWill goes 1, so we can have our cake, (Bosa on the edge) and eat it too (Soloman inside next to Buckner).

We should look to trade Solomon Thomas and some draft picks for OBJ or Antonio Brown.

It's going to take our first to land either of those guys

Said team can easily work out an extension. I could get care less what the pick is. They do pretty good with their 5th-7th round picks anyway. Move him off the team please.
Blair had a shot a winning a starting job in TC but couldn't do it.
AA will stay until someone beats him out or Lynch gets a solid offer in trade. It will be more value than just a single 5th. I could see him part of a deal to move up in the draft. Until then he has value as a rotational guy.
With teams like Seattle and Baltimore bucking the passing game trend and going to the run game, guys like Armstead will have value in stopping the run.
During the Baltimore/Cleveland game, Tony Romo was watching the Ravens dominate the Browns 4 man front. Romo predicted a smart DC would start using 5 DL to stop the run and forcing the QB to beat them in the passing game. While that might not work against Rodgers or Brees, it would have been very good against teams with strong running games covering for a lesser QB. In such a case, Armstead would be a good piece in the strategy.
Because Seattle is in division and of course, we play Baltimore next year, I see the value in that. The problem is, IMO, that is his max potential. An elite run stopper. It's more or less what I saw as his max potential coming out of college. Better fit as a 3-4 DE, which is what we ran when we drafted him. But in this defense, more is needed. Hopefully, someone can offer more pass rush ability without sacrificing the run between Street, Thomas, and Blair.

I don't know how he would adapt to the 4- 3 coming from the 3- 4 at Alabama. The team has Buckner on the inside but no one that can pressure from the edge. I don't know if it would be productive having two guys next to each other that push the pocket. In theory yes but schematically if they're being a problem on the inside then opposing teams can move the pocket and take away their effectiveness. I mean if the team decides to trade out of the #2 pick there are still guys that are difference makers within the top 10 picks in my opinion.

too late. He's already put his plan into motion. He'll milk this injury until the 9ers are forced to pay him the $9m. Lynch was bamboozled.
We all saw this coming. They didn't learn from Ward. This FO hasn't learned a thing.
claims he was injured during the bears game, but his name didn't even pop up on the injury report against the rams. The fix is in. Had they not picked up his option, dude would've been claiming to be healthier than ever.
I doubt Armstead cares either way. Free Agency looks real nice for him considering the most comparable signing this past free agency, star lotulelei, got 5 years 50 million and the cap went up a big chunk again.
And hopefully some other team gives him that type of contract, not the niners, that is way to much for him IMO
I highly doubt he gets extended here. I want to see what Street can do at the big end next year plus we may see Taylor take the next step. Blair is under contract for one more year too.
I forgot about Street! It's like picking up an extra draft pick but he got to spend a redshirt year in the NFL. This hasn't worked out in the past but I'm a 49ers fan and I have no choice but to be delusional.
