I would hope that the drafting of Moore and Reed make Ward expendable, and drafting Street and Taylor make AA expendable. The way Lynch drafted at least says they aren't here long term, but ya never know.

I don't know if it would be productive having two guys next to each other that push the pocket. In theory yes but schematically if they're being a problem on the inside then opposing teams can move the pocket and take away their effectiveness. I mean if the team decides to trade out of the #2 pick there are still guys that are difference makers within the top 10 picks in my opinion.

We have plenty of money to sign Thomas if he wants to join Uncle Sherm in sticking it to the Seahawks for hanging him out to dry with a tag.
There is no financial reason for moving Armstead. If we did we would just have to replace him with someone else. We need him for depth if nothing else.
Good post dj!
If Cards take Bosa - we could take Qwill and trade AA - there are guys like Blair that can step in too
I'm good with seeing what Blair can do too. There is no sense in having Armstead being your 4th highest paid player for just "depth" it sends the wrong message to the team in that we'll carry you even if you have been an often injured player that hasn't met expectations of being a former first rounder. Garcon has to go too.
Respectfully disagree.
We don't have any "Impact" guys on D - except for Buck.
IMO, we need difference makers and QWill is an immediate difference maker.
We don't need a bunch of good to average guys from extra picks - we need a violent, aggressive steam-roller to attack and cause havoc.
IMO, QWill is that type of player
Williams with Buckner (in first year together) won't hold a candle to [Suh with Donald] for Rams...the point is, Rams give up a lot of points because they really don't have a good pass rusher off the edge. Neither do we. If the Rams (a loaded team / defense) are struggling in that department, we're going to die. next season. Again....
Rams will probably get picked apart from Saints and if Eagles get lucky enough to win in New Orleans, they could also pick apart the Rams (Lack of pass rush). We need edge rushers more than anything. More than anything. If Bosa is gone, we just go with next best one...two in this draft. Get another in FA.

I'd like to see AA not brought back, especially for 9 million. Use that 9 million on a proven pass rusher in FA, and draft Bosa/Allen who ever is there at 2. Soloman will get his chance inside next to Defo, and if he struggles this coming season, then we can look to FA or the draft for someone to pair with Defo inside, if no one on our roster this year is capable.

Trade down with Jacksonville for the Ramsey guy and their pick. If they need a QB the only team ahead of them would be the Giants at #6 with the same need. That's not bad as an alternative to Graham.

I've been watching Trey Flowers on the Patriots and dude has a high motor, looks good.
I'll be watching Graham closely later today.

I personally think AA will not be brought back. Jullian Taylor played a lot towards the end of the season the same time they let the young players played in place of the veterans. He played pretty well too in the beginning of the season. We also spent another draft pick last year on Kentavius Street who could be another BE.

I agree that Armstead should not be brought back, and that we have his replacements already on the roster.

Yeah I wonder if we could work out something with Jags for Ramsey (I doubt they let him go tho). Flowers, Graham or whoever with draft picks (two edge) is the start of something good.
If FO doesn't plan on keeping AA, they might be thinking about Williams in the draft

I really think Armstead's days are numbered. His cap number doesn't make sense for what he brings to the table. To me, defensively, at the moment, this team's strength is at defensive tackle(s). I don't see a need at all for Quinnen Williams, especially switching over from the 3- 4. Lynch has been there and done that. I don't think he makes that mistake twice. At least not this soon lol. I really like my plan and hope it comes to fruition:
Tyler Flowers // Solomon Thomas // DeForest Buckner // Ronald Blair III (Nick Bosa)
or
Brandon Graham

He played pretty decent last year and I have never felt he was as bad as others thought....that said I think they should cut ties with him and put that 8-9 mil towards Graham.

I've heard this floated a lot. The problem is, what's the point? He'll be 31 by next season. Fowler on the other hand is 24 and AA isn't too much older. Why waste a roster spot on a guy that likely won't be in the NFL in a year or two? I'd rather develop someone and build chemistry for our 2021 SB run...

I guess it boils down to whether they think he still has gas in the tank for a few more years. I personally think he still has a ton left. He's a superior player in terms of run defense and QB pressures, is a leader and a winner. I wouldn't be opposed to Fowler either though.
