Can somebody explain how we can cut this dude like some on here are suggesting?
We took his 5th year, guaranteed for injury.
He's injured.
We owe him his money.
Front office screwed up picking up Ward's 5th and they took AA's 5th hook, line, and sinker.
Some on here suggested we were "smart" taking AA's 5th because, and let me paraphrase;
If... IF AA balls out, we will owe him big money to keep him!!
Really hope the front office learned it's lesson.

Finding a run defending DE/DT is nearly impossible to find. Right?

There may be a lesson here in the hiring of a new DL coach. That would be, Shanahan believes the potential of the current group was not realized by Zg and a new coach will make them better.
Since there is no problem with cap room, there is no reason to part ways with Armstead unless someone comes in and clearly beats him out. Let the new coach have some time with him and see what happens.
Numerous people complain, rightly so, about his slow start of the LOS. I've watched him a lot and find that he will get a good jump on occasion and not at others. A loud voice in his ear may be just the thing he needs to fire off more consistently. In any case, there is no compelling reason to cut him and certainly none to send him away in a trade for a low pick.

I could be wrong, but The way it was explained was that they can still move on from him by a certain date and save that $. I need someone smarter, like AB, to explain

Wie'll find out what Kocurek thinks about AA. If he gets let go, I guess it's safe to say that Kris thinks we'll be fine / better without........

Not to mention it seems like our coaching staff really likes him. For all our complaining on the forum, he sure played a whole lot of snaps.

No your right.
As I understand, if he passes a physical by a certain date we could release him with zero implications to the cap and not pay him.
However, he's got a broken hand.... so he can't pass a physical, so he will get paid.
How many coaches has he had on the DL now? Has their been 3 in four years?
Hopefully the newest one they are bringing in will bring out his full potential, WITHOUT him being on IR by the 3rd or 4th game. I know he got through this year, but funny it was his contract year.

Well said, dj.
As you stated, we've seen AA fire off the ball, which I think is his most glaring weakness. Firing off the ball with a quality first step is half the battle as a pass rusher. The capability to do that is there with AA. Someone needs to simply help him with consistency. Fixing that issue could be as simple as riding his ass in practice and during games, adjusting his eye placement, giving him a new cue, etc.
Imagine if AA fired off the ball like this on every snap.
Personally, I thought Jeff Zgonina did an average-to-poor job, so I wasn't sad to see him go. Pumped to have Kris Kocurek.

That's awesome to hear Hero is pumped about this hire.
I wonder how much pull he'll have with Saleh on his recommendations for players and where they line up; philosophies. His thoughts on personal usage for Thomas specifically.

Honestly he played well this season. Not eye glaring but you can see him developing. I hope our new d-line coach can get the most out of him this season. After all, he is on a contact year.

A good HC does not fire a a critical assistant and hire another one if he has not already sought and honored the judgement of the DC.
