LMFAO WUT!!!!!!!!!!!

Truth.

Armstead - 78.3 #14 among EDs.

Buckner - 76.2

Oh Chaz.
Not thrilled about him coming back at 9mil per.

Why? It's not our money. It has zero impact on the draft. And it has zero impact on free agency. The 5th year option was created EXACTLY for this reason.

Why? Because I don't think he's worth 9mil and that puts him right near the top of highest paid players on the team. I wanted him back, but 9mil doesn't seem right, but who knows
So what if it's not our money? If that's the case then we shouldn't care what they do with anything contract related. How does it not impact FA? That's money that could be spent elsewhere if you try to restructure it. He had a good year, but hard to justify paying him 9mil

Excluding guys still on rookie contracts, that number puts him roughly in line with similar players.

Is the team better with him or without him? On the open market he's probably a $6-7 mil a year player. Paying him a couple more for continuity with the hope that he continues to progress isn't a big deal.

It means that this team doesn't create another hole on the roster when they already have so many to address.

It's like people don't understand his role, plus you don't let your second best lineman leave for nothing

Pretty much this. The doom squad is squirming since the old 'he cant make it through 16 games' material fell dead this season lol.

Agreed. Looking forward to him building upon last year and being a strong contributor this year.

True, I just don't look at him as a 9mil player. Guys who are far more accomplished and better players (Richardson less, Star slightly more, etc) got similar amounts last year. I'm glad he's coming back, just didn't think it was still going to be at that 9mil figure. Oh well

Wait until you see some of the FA deals signed this offseason after the cap has gone up again. I don't think Armstead gets $9 mil on the open market, could easily see a 3-4 team paying him $6-7 million next year, more if he steps it up another notch.

And I would be fine with a deal in that range. It's really just the actual amount I think is hard to stomach. Feel like they could upgrade a bit more for 9mil. But it's only for 1 year and he looked good last year, so why not I guess
It's crazy that Arik Armstead is still only 25.

I think the added $2-3 mil is worth it just for the benefit of continuity and not having to worry about addressing big end when the other options on the roster are so unproven, especially with so many other needs on the roster. By next year that might look very different and if Armstead has a really good year than he probably walks, the 49ers potentially pick up a comp pick and they will likely be in better shape to address the position if needed.

some just think he is not worth the money they are paying him. he is a underachiever and we could do better. but he stays. i can not dislike him much more than i already do. maybe he will be a pleasant surprise though i do not believe it. when he was first drafted. many shrilled he is cowboys replacement. now we find out he is a below mid tier player but overall he stayed somewhat healthy and i suppose he brought more to the table that ward ever did.

Well you've talked me off the ledge.
Now You better start working on your talking skills when/if they resign Ward
