And they resigned ward and gave marsh free money, lol.
But hey. All i want is 53 all pros.
They picked up Armstead's option last year while he was still on his rookie contract. The $9 mil was the price set by the formula the league uses to figure these things out. I agree that it is splitting hairs a bit but agreeing to pay someone their option money is slightly different than offering them a deal for $9 million a year. By all accounts he did a good job in the running game last year. I agree with the poster above who says that Armstead's biggest problem is learning how to finish plays. Maybe the new DE line coach they hired will help him figure that part of his game out. Marsh was cut as I recall and, if I'm not mistaken, had more sacks than Harold Landry last year who many in the forum were all hot and bothered about. Not sure how that equates to giving him free money. Now they have a proven pass rusher in Ford and a chance to pick up either Bosa or Allen in the draft this year who are probably both rated higher than anybody but Chubb in last year's draft.
I will admit that Ward remains something of a head scratcher but again, by all accounts, the coaches seem to like him a lot. One of them just said he was the best free safety on the team so clearly they see something in him from his practices and work in the film room that we as fans are not seeing. Hopefully he will stay healthy this year and give everyone sitting at home on their couches a chance to see what the coaches are seeing. Since it is only a one year prove it deal I don't really have an issue with it.
