Ravens are planning to release safety Tony Jefferson, per source. Baltimore drafted Kyle Hamilton in round one and signed former Saints standout Marcus Williams, leaving less opportunity for Jefferson, who had a strong preseason, with 9 tackles in one half Saturday vs Washington.

I am expecting him back in SF. Just makes too much sense. They went and signed Gibson who was never on their radar, All because of Ward's injury. But they won't sign Tartt who knows the system and did well for them and who is currently better than everyone minus Jimmie Ward? And he's going to be cheap.

Hoping he is back until Jimmie recovers minimum. We need a guy back there that knows what he's doing, knows the system, etc.

Take Jefferson over Tartt, or even both.

There is some talk that this is just roster maneuvering with Jefferson, and he will be re-signed after final cuts to either the active or PS. Even without that, I still think I'd take Tartt over Jefferson. Tartt knows our system, and we already know what to expect from him in it. I think Tartt has more in the tank at this point, too.

I am curious why the Eagles are releasing him. Did he play that badly? Did somebody unexpected show out in pre-season? They signed him this off-season and I figured they did that because they needed a safety. But now they are going to cut him?
Bad scheme fit?
Tartt struggled to get acclimated to defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon's scheme and was spotty in coverage throughout the preseason. He missed several days in training camp due to personal reasons, causing him to fall on the depth chart -- and never recovered.
This describes his time with the niners. only thing they missed are the injuries

We wasted too much time with his mediocre play.
