I love this pick and what it will do for our defense. We now have the ability to still be stout against the run in our Nickel formations.

Probably Eric Reid (3 concussions in the past 2 years)

or future replacement for Bethea

both, i'm sure.

He'll take over for Bethea in the future. This has nothing to do with Ward. Please stop. Tartt will be a Nickel LB his rookie season.
I want to see Ward and Tartt in the same groupings to take advantage of their chemistry. Guys were playing together as freshmen in HS!
Ward at FS and Tartt at SS... I like...

We already have two probowl safeties on the team.... I DONT LIKE!!!!! Wasted pick, especially with Maxx Williams still on the board
me too, dtg, and don't you know those two guys will be able to do a lot more than a newcomer + reid. It makes our DBackfield instantly better. And CC, you expressed perfectly my thots. Thanks amigo.

LOL! I didn't stomp but did go right to Google to do my due diligence...and was pleasantly surprised! This draft is loaded with great athletes who are very versatile.

  • Tartt is big, strong and can play SS, FS, and STs.
  • Bell can be a backup QB as well as TE.
  • Smelter, when healthy, is a phenomenal athlete--all state in HS in three sports!
  • Pinion was #1 punter coming into college and #3 kicker.
  • Anderson can play TE, WR or anything in between.

Just an excellent group of athletes!
well, that just shows you are more mature than me. i actually turned to the dark side for 15 minutes then i rationalized and then like you did some research and came to your same conclusions. it just takes me a little longer to catch up due to the fact i am clueless in the world of college football.. versatile is the key word. we should know that is how we do things,, whether it be this safety, our new swiss army pocket knife tight end and yes even our acl wide out who can catch, run and block.. the special teams thing is just HUGE to me and i suspect to the team as well. that area needs a over haul and with free agency so far and the draft , i think we are taking steps in that area as well... hey i love andy lee but i tell you if he can do the job in pre season and if we can see he can kick the ball out of the end zone on kickoffs,, why not keep him, cut lee and let dawson kick field goals.... now i also think dawson should take a pay cut to.. it will do no good because their minds are made up but romper room really needs to pay attention to this good post by dtg who points out how much these guys can multi task.... in my opinion, that was a HUGE factor in the decision to draft these guys... they are also good people to I think, who can, WIN WITH CLASS TRENT! LOL

Comes with age! But it's also my father's teaching...stay focused and calm--always! Can't say I always live up to it but he speaks to me from above and I better listen~! LOL...don't want to be haunted! I do get mad at myself when I don't recognize a second rounder who was projected as a second rounder! 6th or 7th rounders? OK...some of those guys are out of my realm of knowledge...but one of the best safeties?

i am not sure about one name you got there,, but besides that,,,, you bring up the fact that we HAD to infuse some youth into the defense. we have been lucky that we have ridden alot of guys coat tails since 2011 but at some point in time, you MUST bring in youth. then you need coaches to help them get better and i think we got that this year. sure it is tough to get used to seeing new people playing in spots that were occupied by some great people and fan favorites but you have to change , adapt, and you have to infuse some youth into the mix.. with your post you helped me in a way that i do not think you intended to
