49ers running back Mike Davis told reporters Wednesday he's no longer eating his favorite vices. Flamin' Hot Cheetos, other chips and fried foods are no longer on Davis' personal menu.
Not surprisingly, it's led to Davis' physical transformation entering his second season after his paltry rookie year, when he ran for 58 yards on 35 carries. A hand injury forced him to miss 10 games after the 49ers selected him in the fourth round of the NFL draft.
"That was like a heart breaker," Davis said of his commitment to avoid chips.
"Biggest change was eating a lot of fresh fruits. Cutting out all the fried food and just making sure I would eat healthy."
The new diet appears to be paying off for the 23-year-old. In the preseason opener, he led the 49ers with 72 yards rushing on just five carries, thanks to a 44-yard scamper where he made two unblocked Texans miss on a misdirection run to the right, showing quicker feet than any point of his rookie season.

Good news for all the Davis's (we needed some good news)
A month ago I would have said none of them end up on the 53
The RB Mike looks solid, and may end up the #2
The DB Chris looking good at nickle CB
The OT Anthony has received a ton of praise from coaches and management
