Good news for all the Davis's (we needed some good news)

A month ago I would have said none of them end up on the 53

The RB Mike looks solid, and may end up the #2
The DB Chris looking good at nickle CB
The OT Anthony has received a ton of praise from coaches and management
49ers running back Mike Davis told reporters Wednesday he's no longer eating his favorite vices. Flamin' Hot Cheetos, other chips and fried foods are no longer on Davis' personal menu.

Not surprisingly, it's led to Davis' physical transformation entering his second season after his paltry rookie year, when he ran for 58 yards on 35 carries. A hand injury forced him to miss 10 games after the 49ers selected him in the fourth round of the NFL draft.

"That was like a heart breaker," Davis said of his commitment to avoid chips.

"Biggest change was eating a lot of fresh fruits. Cutting out all the fried food and just making sure I would eat healthy."

The new diet appears to be paying off for the 23-year-old. In the preseason opener, he led the 49ers with 72 yards rushing on just five carries, thanks to a 44-yard scamper where he made two unblocked Texans miss on a misdirection run to the right, showing quicker feet than any point of his rookie season.

Wow. These two plays by Davis are really f**king good. I think he could definitely be a great number two. Hell, if he keeps it up he has the ability to be a decent number one. He has great acceleration and can make people miss. He is also powerful. Did you guys see the straight arm he made on that guy? This guy really does have it all. He also catch is very very well. The best on the team at catching the football. I thought last year he was slow but boy was I wrong.
DAVIS had a great showing.. don't make him a HALL OF FAMER yet.. lot's of showing and proving to do..

We are not, we are saying he is on his way to being a very good number two running back and he has the ability to be a decent number one running back. That's not saying a whole lot but based on all his great qualities like acceleration pass catching and strength he is on his way for sure.

Our RB, DB, and OL groups look the most improved. the DL group looks to have the most potential. Too bad the WR and QB position still sucks ass...

Who cares about the QB. The point is, it displays Davis' hands and juke ability.

Yeah, well, that's the thing, Joe. They BOTH look good. Damn good. One PS game does not a star make....but those two guys with Hyde....cripes. If they both stay healthy, we are going to have a running game with some RBs that are all starters, running behind....

Staley/ Garnett(Tiller)/Kilgore/ AD/Brown. Now that is an OL that a great back will have a field day with.

I agree with you re: our 7 man starters on OL, our 4 rotation starters at RB (Hyde, Draughn, Davis, Shaun) and our DBs( not sure which of the 9, ok 7 I know)...but the WR situation fixes itself. We got a bench full of WRs, like last yr, like the yr before, and never did we ever find out who had what. We just moved them from bench one yr to the next. Not with Chip. He is trying these guys out, everyone gets a fair shot,(unlike Harbaw, and tomsul), and he will have a pair to go with Torrey by early first few games, maybe even by start of season.

Now, it is tough to decide when you got all your QBs throwing bounce passes, high, wide or not at all. But chip WILL find 2 more guys to go with Torrey. And they are on our team now.. This yr he gets the WRs who can play onto the field. Those that can't ....they go. Finally. And the QBs are going to get better...which will make picking the best 2 a lot easier.
