If he is (starting spot), that is a bad sign, I do hope to see his girth employed in jumbo packages and special teams. Hope that he ousts a player that is not a starter but currently a journey man backup.

well the only journeyman backup on the Oline is Pears

Looney
We drafted looney.... U do know the definition of journeyman right??

Yes, one who has played for several teams but not really considered bankable starter, I consider him a journeyman type player even though he was drafted since he has never seemed to be one of those that will be a solid starter. We thought and hope, but he has not gotten it done, Everybody has been leaping over him, especially last year. If he can't win a starting position this year at guard, that just solidifies him as a journeyman. This is his 4th year.

By definition he isnt a journeyman, just a backup. But I get your point.

Well, that is stretching it (pun intended) and since he is 6-8 350 is not as bad as a guy 6-3 350, 350 is still a lot of weight though, Boone is 6-8 and still almost 50 pounds lighter. Pear is also 6-8, but is 32 lbs lighter. I want to see that 350lbs leaning on dick Sherman and turn him into either pancake or a sheman.

PHRASING!!!!

No but yeah, he may not be a chode like some guys but he is still thicker then a cold bowl of oatmeal. I think he would be fine at 340 or 330, all that matter is if he can hold the weight. What might be to heavy for one individual might be perfect for another.

I think he's too talented and well liked by the management to go practice squad, with Boone and AD being jerks, Staley maybe on the down side of his PRIME, I think Trenton goes on IR to keep him safe from other teams..

... especially against those Voltures from the Northwest!!!

I could see him beating out a guy like looney for a roster spot due to pure talent and the fact that we have pears and martin as a possible back up on the inside. I think he makes the roster as the swing tackle, ala Jonathan "Downey soft" Martin last year. Once staley is gone I could see AD slide over to LT and Trenton be the RT.

You can't put a guy on IR unless he is actually hurt. I do think that we will replace someone already on the team. If Boone can make it as an UDFA, don't see why a more talented kid like Brown with traits that can't be taught.

I call it the Bobby Beathard and Joe Gibbs INJURED RESERVED... it's when a team really likes a certain player's future but believe that he just ain't ready, the management would find a way for that player to be injured so that they may keep his rights and develop continue to develope the guy..

Yeah, Ballke pretty much already does this.

Call it what you want, playing a risky game if you get outed, fine and loss of draft pick. What are you going to pull a Tonya Harding? There maybe ways, highly unlikely or that would have happened with a lot players that the niners lost.
I am just SAYINGGGGGGGGGG................ that there's a way for this rookie to find himself in the injury report... shhezzzzzz... he can claim to may have hurt his lower back and we can just put him on injured reserve.. it's hard to prove whether the back is actually injured or not.. because they aren't the one feeling the pain or numbness..

Yeah, Ballke pretty much already does this.

He does this with players already documented with injuries, then their physicians can say, not recovered yet. Yet when they do recover the player is brought onto the 53 man roster later in the year. Depending. The NFL knows what the timetable for the injuries are. Some injuries you can't hide the guy all year on IR. If the doctor or player gets pissed with your team, they can always out you.

Not a doctor, but I did stay at a holiday inn once-hahaha. Seriously-X-rays combined with MRI and CAT scans can detect the severity of the back injury. Again certain injuries they already have an average time table. Here is the other problem. Keeping a player out all year-he loses seniority. Someone like Brown after 3 years he is an restricted FA, so if you do this he loses that year and is stuck with a team for four years. To be a total free agent 5 years. If he turns out to be a good player, he loses out. Players are not going to sacrifice for the team when their earning power is so short lived. So player is not going to fake it if he can get claimed to go to a another and make the 53 man roster.

I want Trent Brown to start @ RT. Anthony Davis I was a huge fan of, but his s**tty attitude is growing on me. I remember when he came out he had question marks about his desire for the game and his personality.

This past year I know he was injured, but I felt his vibe and it's not a team first vibe. He's like a Vernon pre Singletary personality.

I hope Tomsula sees through his crap and benches him in favor of Trent.

what the hell are you talking about,, you felt his vibe,,, good god with people around here.. a 7th rounder has a good week in may mini camp and you are ready to dump a great, never hurt, difference maker, young OL guy cuz you hope this guy will work out,,,,, my lorthe "vibe".
The vibe? Like Vernon Davis..? This off-season will never end.

Yeah, Ballke pretty much already does this.

And does it well.
@Edgrenade Is there any reason to believe the Trent Brown "hype?"

MM: I was unaware that there's been hype for the seventh-round pick. He's big and he has pretty good feet. He has a chance to be a player because the 49ers will put him on a good diet and he'll probably go through a complete body makeover over the course if the next year. I still remember how Alex Boone looked when he arrived with the 49ers and how different he looked late in his rookie season. I think Brown has a chance, and the offseason absence of Anthony Davis might help him get there sooner.
