Well if nothing else Trent Brown certainly believes in himself which is half the battle. Unabashedly says that he plans on being the starter at RT.

For me, my top guy in this draft when the Niners were on the clock was Cameron Erving. I would love him being ready to take over at RT at this point, especially with Armstead probably being a limited snap guy in 2015. Oh, well. You go with who you've got.
I think the Niners will end up moving Boone to RT, and sliding one of their interior lineman inside at RG. I could easily see a Staley-Thomas-Kilgore-Martin/Looney-Boone front line.
That's what i thought. That line doesn't sound bad.

Asked if he views the current 49ers depth chart as an opportunity to become a rookie starter, Brown said, "Yes sir, I do."
"I definitely feel a change in my body. I feel like I'm adding muscle. I just have to keep going. And believe it or not, when I was younger, I was a skill player. I started out playing running back. Played a little quarterback, cornerback, receiver, linebacker. And in basketball I played guard."

Trent Brown has got tremendous ability. There's a lot of development that needs to take place, but absolutely. I really like that guy, and I like the way he's working.
I'm not looking at you now telling you Trent Brown is going to start at right tackle. But I'm also not telling you he won't.

Don't you see Brown more as a backup?

Good luck to Trenton Brown to continue to progress & possibly take over at right tackle this off-season. Can't wait till the pads go on & we see what he can really do out there

DL Quinton Dial's scouting report on RT Trent Brown: "He's got pretty good feet for a big guy...initial quickness, good lateral quickness."

Well, those three things are a must in a ZBS for sure. Also, now that OUR defense will now have to play against a ZBS in practice will ensure better play against Seattle.

I can't help but wonder if some of the enthusiasm is aimed at preventing a holdout from Boone, who likely feels he has the 49ers over a barrel right now. Man, if I were him and the position I've wanted for years just popped open, I'd be at 4949 Centennial the next day, studying a playbook (iPad) before the coaches arrived.

Good call!
It will be interesting to see if they let Boone compete for the job.
If they don't, IMO, then the writing is on the wall as far as retaining him.
Since we value cross training people - do any of you think they get Brown to practice at Guard???

It's possible, but I'd expect that enthusiasm at this time of year. Every organization wants to field the best team possible, so everyone will get their due hype.
Totally agree with Boone. With a year of good work at RT, he'd be raising the ceiling for his next contract, so it's a way to increase his long-term value, even though the FO won't budge (yet).
