Physically, the guy has the goods. But, he looks young and plays green; not being active with his lower body and bending his waist and reaching a lot.

Heres the deal: we cant put this guy on the PS, because he will play for another team this year if we do. He can play right now; just has to mature. Could be a ten-year guy.

Yeah, I thought he played pretty darn well...from the OTA's he was great also, then TC (not so much) but he may be a "gamer." He got beat on a good speed rush but still had the long arms to push the defender out wide but Thompson's dumbazz stepped BACKWARDS right into it for a safety instead of up in the clean pocket.

Calling a spade a spade...

Brown outplayed Pears. IDGAD if it was against 1's, 2's or 3's...Brown showed me something Saturday.

And it wasnt just his physical presence (which btw he looked to be in close to excellent shape)...it was his poise. The game was not too fast, he set up well, used his hands properly and moved his feet to the proper areas to create an adequate power base from which to work.

Being that this is PS game #1...I am putting an early bet in that he beats out Pears for that starting spot next to Brandon Thomas, who also played extremely well.
I think the best thing to do is for this guy to be that "Swing Tackle" this year.. .keep him on the special teams, insert him on special situations.. he ain't ready now, but he does show some flashes... so the talent is there, but he just needs time to develope and he needs to believe that he belongs..

Remember the kid from the U??

Seantrelle Henderson.. best OT prospect out of high school.. got lost thru out his college carreer.. imposing size and good workt out.. still went undrafted.. signed w/the Bills as UFA... ended up starting at the RT position (if not LT)... I was happy for that kid to be able to recover from the college mess he has gotten thru..

as for our own Trent Brown, only injury and Injured Reserved this year will keep him away from signing with other teams.. he must be kept... he's a 7th rounder, a project, nothing to lose by keeping him around, but everything to gain if he develops ...

Completely agree.
Hope to see even more improvement in the next pre-season game! Want to see more of what he can do on the field.

I just went back and re-read this thread pretty much all the way through from the beginning. Interesting the way things are working out with this situation. Hope Brown can contribute from the start, but I have serious doubts.

I still hope they at least try sliding Boone over to RT and try Martin/Thomas/Pears as LG. As I remember, Boone filled in for Davis pretty well at RT.

Yes he did!

he also filled in well for Staley.

when did boone fill in for anthony davis at RT? that pos jonathan martin filled in last year...boone stayed at RG

How did he look?

He looked good, gave up a sack but it was more the Qb's fault for not stepping up in the pocket, I was really impressed.
Would like to see this kid dominate some more this weekend. Would be great if this kid could win the starting right tackle spot. He looks to latch on & almost always move his guy backwards!

No way do I want this kid as the starting RT...he has promise but is far from a starting RT at this point, he was drafted based on potential/size. Pears looked good last game and is a much much better RT in ZBS then a OG.

This is true but I was very happy with Brown as well. He's got long arms so even if he does get beat by a speed rusher, his arms can still get there and push the rusher out around the pocket. Just keep grinding kid...developing nicely thus far!

Yup I like what I've seen but he needs to develop micj more before taking over pears spot...very nice 7th Rd pick a lot to work with

Oh God yes, no doubt. I was very pleased with Pears last game...whole OL actually. Let's see how they play this game.

Yeah I'll be watching the Dallas pass rush...is hardy playing?
Brown remains my dark horse for starting near midseason.
