Yeah, crazy, right? I would rather have Brown have trouble with a blitz or a stunt here an there over Pears who has trouble with any player in front of him.

Saw this on NN....agree completely.

Preseason PFF grades.

OL:
Andrew Tiller, 115 snaps, +7.6
Brandon Thomas, 106 snaps, +3.3
Trenton Brown, 149 snaps, -2.0 (pass grade +2.9)
Marcus Martin, 59 snaps, -3.3
Erik Pears, 44 snaps, -5.6

Our coaching staff sucks.

We are either incapable of recognizing the superior talent, or simply too afraid of hurting players feelings by making them "feel expendable" to make the best decision for the team. That's BS. Let the best man play. Belichek yanks you out if you're not getting it done. We let Devey start half the season and Pears almost all year...

I just wonder how much of this is on Forrester or how much of it is on Tomsula for not wanting to over rule Forrester. Either way, Forrester sucks.

Unfortunately, we have no idea who is making this decision. It could be Foerster making the call with autonomy, it could be his preferences being overruled by Tomsula's loyalty policy, it could be Geep having a preference for vets, it could be a combination of Geep/Foerster expressing a dependence upon vets or guys who are more prototypical ZBS body types. Who the hell knows. It needs to be fixed.

Well, then Brown acquitted himself very well, as he was passing stunters and picking up loopers effortlessly yesterday.
Brown is a terrific athlete, but the position is fairly complex in terms of assignments, etc. He will be brought in slowly, I think, but the upside is as big as he is.
He is just 22, along with Marcus Martin. Matter of fact Martin only turned 22 a couple of weeks back. Have to keep that in mind when assessing their performance.

Pears shouldnt play another snap this season. Put Silberman at RG since they seem hellbent on not playing Thomas.

Good point!

Up until this point Martin has looked like Chilo Rachel 2.0.

So he fits right in
Was at the game yesterday and just rewatched it. Brown looked pretty solid. In fact after he came into the game, at Around the start of the 4th quarter. Pears moved to guard and gave up a sack, got cussed out by Staley, and had two holding calls. Why Pears had played this long over Brown is absurd, but I've been saying this since the Preseason.

Our Media are soft as s**t... all one of them had to do was ask that right there...

"Is Pears doing a good job picking up blitzes and Stunts?"

and I promise you he wouldn't answer it straight up... would say something about the whole oline needing to get better.
Agree with Afrkan....and if Brown can't pick up blitzes or block well, then he should be right at home starting with those guys currently starting on the OL. What is he going to do? Play worse than devey, martin or pears? I don't think so, so why isn't he in there. He CANNOT be worse than curly , moe and Jack that we have in there now.

I Agree very much with this. Being at the games and practices, coving this team is your job. They need to ask some questions with risk in them at this point it would be common sense to ask why certain players still havnt played over certain guys who sick week in and week out.
Brown possibly has a future. Pears does not and is a joke. That alone should make this an easy decision. But of course it takes too long. To me and probably many others here my main gripe with this staff above all else is the willingness to make change even when their are options. We play over the hill vets who have no business starting over young guys who may or may not work out. It makes me want to puke and should be the main reasons these jokes get fired

Exactly. I been wanting to see more of this guy since game 2. He actually slows down pass rushers, it's refreshing.

Thomas at G is the last player left I want to see/evaluate. Keep in mind, we moved back to the end of the 5th (4 picks from the 6th round) and picked up Pinion AND with that extra pick, picked up RT Trenton Brown.
