Pears moved to guard and gave up a sack, got cussed out by Staley, and had two holding calls. Why Pears had played this long over Brown is absurd, but I've been saying this since the Preseason.

We all have. Under Harbaugh, no young players would get a shot save for injury. Now, almost all of them are getting a shot...but in some cases like Brown, WAY late!
Brown should come into camp next year, in better shape and fully prepared to fight for a spot on the roster ...personally I'm one of the fans that wants Anthony Davis to come back, that way we wouldn't need to spend a draft choice on a RT , with Brown in the Mix and hopefully Davis coming back, we could draft a swing tackle that could be groomed for future action on the left and right side .....but we DO need to draft a couple of guards , I don't wanna see Devey or Pears back next season , we need to build a dominant offensive line and get back to busting heads again
Brown should have played from the gitgo this yr, even tho not ready. Sure he missed some blocks, but jeez the guy is a mountain, and just that slows the DL down. Not playing him and instead playing curly, Mo and Jack...aka pears, martin and devey was a colossal screwup. But that is tomsula. Dont' change anything rapidly ,even if it is obvious it doesn't work. Brown was pencilled in for the slot next yr, or the next. He should have been the one at OT not the other 3.

Agree

Reflective of the terrible coaching decisions.

The coaches would rather have a guy that physically cannot cut it, despite *knowing the assignments*, instead of a guy who might miss something here or there, but physically is able to hand himself out there.

Regardless of how well Pears knows the assignments, his horrible technique and simple lack of ability to handle rushers makes him much more of a liability. He constantly gets holding calls and it's not like he's going to get all his assignments right 100% of the time either.

Brown should've been given a shot to learn a long time ago. You learn from experience and unless he has film to look at to review and correct, how is supposed to make bigger strides? I mean seriously, this is obvious stuff.
Played well. I wish he started earlier in the year so they could see if he would be the long-term solution
It would be great of they can find a good O-Line through FA so they don't have to spend any picks on OL. I would like for them to focus on firing Chryst and Mangini, fix the OLine by utilizing the FA, draft the best pass rusher they can find.

I'd rather would not underestimate the o-line issues this time at all. To me, drafting an OT or OG due to Staley's age, Boone's possible departure and questions about Tiller, Brown (consistency, ceiling) and Thomas, MMartin (everything) is a must.
Having a lot of cap space and spending it to the left and right could hurt us in the long-term.
I focused on him quite a bit in this game. I was impressed. He appeared to miss a couple of pickups but in general had a good game. Will check to see how PFF graded him.

The only guy that would make me think twice about drafting Goff would be Tunsil.

Who cares if you think that you got enough knowledge to separate the more talented from the less talented players, you don't need any stats
Were Trent and Silberman ever teammates at Florida?

I know Silberman transferred to BC later.

I am not speaking about first round in particular though.
To me, we should wrap up day one rather with an immediate starter than a potential first-year-backup (unless we think that Tunsil will be a solid starter from day one).

I agree he has the talent. I am always curious to see how the pros grade pros.

The knock on Brown seemed to be a lack of work ethic, not a lack of talent.
