Terrell Owens Thread: Hall of Fame?

Also why isn't this thread in 9er Talk?

Other retired 9er greats have threads there. Players who played on other teams.

Not that I want it there. Heck I don't want this thread here either. Some on this forum don't deserve to "conversate" about Terrell Owens.

As for running to the star, one time is fun and I am sure it was approved and then it was obvious DAL didn't like it when Smith went to the star on his TD. Great gamesmanship by both, but as we all know, that wasn't enough for Mr. Look At Me. He went and did it again even when his own team was trying to high five him. But what does Mr. Look at Me do, he ifnores the team and over does it as if he is the one who got offended because Emmitt Smith did it.

He is a knucklehead selfish POS who throws others under the bus and rarely holds himself accountable.

Good one using Walsh not liking Mooch to defend a third persons reason for being a dick. Let me see, it's okay TO talked s**t about Mooch because Walsh doesn't like Mooch either. Lol. Right there, your argument sounds dilusional just like TO us when he fingerpoints.

Good day and good bye. TO for POSGOAT.

He wasn't drawing attention to it - it was already a huge story. He was referencing this huge story in taking a shot at the media. I'm not sure why this is so difficult for you to grasp.

Again, Owens never threw anyone under the bus. You can't come up with a single example, because it doesn't exist. SteveWallacesHelmet challenged you like 50 times and you went 0 for 50.

Why are you so offended about back-and-forth between two players? You're a drama queen. 49er fans are some of the most ridiculous fans on the planet. They cry about Terrell Owens doing a celebration on a hated rival's logo, but say nothing about the team's starting quarterback getting a DUI of .237 with two girls under 21 riding along as passengers.

Owens doesn't like the fact that Mariucci threw him under the bus after the star celebration. Look at how Tom Coughlin handled the Odell Beckham Jr situation, standing up for his player. That's what a good coach does. Mariucci, despite the fact that one of his own coaches cleared the celebrations, tells the media he didn't even see it, and then suspends Owens because Owens won't apologize for some harmless fun.

Mariucci was the dick, not Owens. Even Phil Simms was speculating during the Raiders game when Owens returned from his suspension that there must have been something else that caused the suspension, because he didn't think the star celebrations were that big a deal.

Christ give it a rest . You are as much of a whiny crybaby as TO LOL

Hahaha. No. Rison, Rice, Irvin were all big divas. Moss was a diva before Owens too. Swann and Stallworth divided a lookerroom in late 70s. Plenty came before Owens.

This is how I can tell if you did indeed watch T.O. play on the field... maybe you were young and you're just going off Media memories.

Was T.O. selfish on the field? Answer that.

Oh yes he was, he would throw tantrums like a 5 year old if the ball doesn't come his way even when he's not open.

Is that not being selfish? Answer that.

Jerry Rice did that a lot more often than Terrell Owens did.

Rice complained about not getting the ball during and after WINS.

For f**k's sake, Rice complained about not being Super Bowl MVP after the 1989-90 SB.

How many tantrums did you see T.O. throw? Because "the ball didn't come his way".

Now in comparison... tell me how many times you saw him BUSTING HIS ASS for his teammates.. run blocking... blocking down field when needed..... chasing down defenders who intercepted the ball with his deceptive elite speed. I mean, how was he able to do this IF he was too busy throwing a tantrum because of a misplaced ball????

Also when Jeff was depressed and looked out of it when were we getting blown out by the Giants in the playoffs... T.O. was still trying to pump up the team... during halftime.. and during our come back.

I love Jerry.....but people forget what he did on that primetime game against the Redskins when we were blowing them out. We were up hell points and he was on the sidelines getting into it Mooch about not getting the ball.

I don't hold that against him... I don't actually really care... but I hate when folks put other players down, and ignore other s**t regarding other players.

Like some mention what T.O. said/didn't say regarding Jeff....

But I wonder how these same people would react if someone randomly walked up to them and wanted to talk about what a great player and teammate Garrison Hearst was.

We all loved Hearst's heart and his play on the field... but he said something even worse than T.O.

I don't hold that against Hearst....it was ignorant, and I'm sure he feels differently now. He apologized about it. People make mistakes. And IMO ever since T.O. was baited into that question, I've said it was stupid of him...and unnecessary. And wrong. Like I posted before, T.O. apologized to Jeff in person.
There are certain media centers that seem to dominate, or at least influence, the rest of the media. Philly and Dallas are two of those influence centers. When you stomp on the star in Dallas or call out the Eagles' QB, it is like calling the pope a muslim. Some just never overcome that and things like that, things that should NEVER influence the voting, wind up being the reason TO did not go in on the first ballot as he should.

Being in the Hall is what is ultimately the most important, however, being in on the first ballot is perceived as a special honor. It is a shame that his on-field performance was not recognized for that honor. That was wrong.

My .02 worth ...
Dude is a HOF. He wasn't betting on football or taking PEDs.. Put him in!
It's amazing to me how Moss got in on first ballet. He's been accused of taking plays off on multiple occasions including the super bowl. He had all those off the field issues. Because he's been an analyst for a couple years and got on the media's good side he gets in? A guy who didn't give it his all on every down shouldn't be a HOFer no matter how good his numbers are. Is that the example they want to give our youth?

No. I'll tell what Owens represented. It wasn't that he was the first "diva," it's that he was the first player of the new hip hop era and culture. He reflects generation x/ millennials. The attitude is different, the swag is different and the new player sees himself as an NFL partner rather than employee.

U GOT to be fking kidding me! That's the dumbest question I ever heard in my life!! Remember TO in the middle of the star? That's just ONE answer to how selfish he was ON the field. This a*****e deserves to kept OUT until he learns some humility. HOF is about CHARACTER ON and off the field
