Terrell Owens Thread: Hall of Fame?

Why am I not surprised this knucklehead would find a way to disrespect the whole process in the end.
What a POS

If he is unhealthy, I take that back

Keeps showing everyone who said he wasn't hall of fame material....just how right they were!

What a douche bag!

How in the world is TO anything but HOF material?

2nd all time in yards
3rd all time in TDs

That right there is enough to make him a no-brainer HOFer.

You're thinking of the Hall Of Numbers, Hall Of Fame is about numbers and a whole lot more, he lacks all of the whole lot more of true Hall Of Famer, and he's showing us all now!

If this is true, what is Roger Craig lacking?

Nothing! Sadly it seems now a days people are focused only on numbers. The Hall once meant more that that!

The fact that great like Catfish isn't in, and primadonna like TO is....

What exactly does "so much more" mean?

So you think a crappy player with a great attitude is a HOFer?

T.O is arguably the second or third best WR of all time!

I look for three things:

Numbers, how do you compare to your peers.

Leadership/sportsmanship, how did you profit in big games, and hard times.

We're you a big part of the era you played in, can the story of the time you played ball be told without mentioning you.

Two out three is good enough for me, TO is a one.

He put up great numbers.

He was a bad teammate, a poor sport, and played small in big games.

True you can't tell the story of the late 90's early 00's without talking about "Diva reciva's" , but there were plenty of blow hard punks playing receiver then.

So, that's my take, I don't give fart in the wind what anyone says or thinks, TO is not a HOFer, at least he wouldn't have been back in the day. Now a days everyone gets a medal, and pizza after the game.

You are talking about putting people in the HOF for being good sports and being a big name. That seems like the ultimate participation medal.

Production is what matters first and foremost.

I put numbers first, and then the rest. The idea of the hall of Fame was to recognize not just the greats or the best, but the legends.

It's become diluted over the years, and now in the age of stat nerds, it's becoming the hall of numbers.

Look at some of the earliest memebers of the Hall, they weren't just guys with big numbers, they were so much more...

Ray Lewis, TO they cheapen the Hall.

Agreed.

At this point, Owens deserves to have his enshrinement revoked by the Hall of Fame. That would be poetic. It's pathetic that he is so butthurt over not getting in first ballot that he isn't even going to accept the award in person.
Only living recipient to decline his own enshrinement. What a douche.

This type of rhetoric is probably one of the reasons he declined to accept it in person. Would you celebrate with people whos intentions were less than sincere?
Not surprisingly he's pretty much a douche, after all. I personally think at the very least he ought to show up simply out of respect for his 49er predecessors like Rice and Young.
Good for him! We've got people deciding who gets in that have no business making those decisions. TO should have been a first ballot HOFer and I applaud him for giving all those that doubted him one final middle finger!
They should put his bust in front of a mirror
It's as if he has no friends or family to tell him he's being an idiot, or he isn't listening. He's throwing away the opportunity for his family and loved ones to celebrate his accomplishments. Maybe one of his kids would have loved to introduce him, but he is too proud to give them that honor. Just so childish.

He cried defending Tony Romo, I'm thinking he would be overwhelmed with the HOF induction.

Congrats and good luck living out the rest of your life TO!
I'm glad he f**king did it. Now was not the time to teach TO one final lesson about being a good teammate.

A shame he wasn't first ballot. A disgrace that he wasn't second ballot. They can go EAD as far as I'm concerned.

I'm on TO's side on this... people want to play politics, they didnt like his attitude so they made him wait? f**k that.

This is TO's middle finger to all of those people, screw them.

TO is one of the greatest of all time at his position. He's a first ballot HOFer, end of story. Y'all can cry about his attitude until the cows come home but TO deserves to be in it.

Just cements my already low opinion of TO - loved him as a Football Player, hated him as a "Team mate" and person. He's blowing a once-in-lifetime occurrence to make a point to his detractors, but instead will just confirm what they already thought about him.

I, for one, had no problem with him not being elected to the HOF on the first or second ballot. I don't believe HOF admission should be based solely on Statistics. Personal behavior and the effect you have on your Team can and should be taken into consideration.

Bye bye TO......
