I assume when he says "taxi", he's not talking about a yellow cab. Probably a really nice smaller car that unfortunately wasn't an SUV.

yup. he wanted the elite status, he asked for it...that's the difference between a Jerry and a TO, Jerry didn't have to ask or want it, it was given to him willingly.
