"I was disappointed that we will be cheated as a Hall of Fame team, one of our teammates, that he took that decision (to skip the ceremonies)," Irvin said. "Of course everybody says, 'He has the right to make the decision.' Yes, he does and we have the right to say we don't like it. It is what it is. And I'm also disappointed because, you know, we fought for T.O. It wasn't like T.O. had said that it didn't matter, 'I don't care about being in the Hall,' or, 'I don't care about that at all.' Then everybody wouldn't have invested emotions and feelings into it and we did ... We talked about it, tried to get him in. We talked about it on air because he rightfully belongs in there. Then he gets in and he makes that decision, I was absolutely disappointed about it."

I enjoy 88 on the nfl network but of all people he has no right to question someones personal decisions . Are you aware of his past?

He also made a strange decision to read a personal text from T.O. on the nfl network which caused a problem between the two. At this point his intentions should be looked at carefully imo.

I am very aware of his past. Still doesnt change the fact that Irvin at least changed his ways for the better. Unlike TO who is still acting like a child.

Lol TO looking like the biggest hypocrite by doing this. He cried and cried and now the baby gets what he wanted. Continues to act like a baby and not show up

Like others said, The reason he's not going is he burned every bridge that would help sponsor his HOF day

Nah, he's not going because he realizes that the hall of fame isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Used to be that the greats got in, now it's political and no one reacts to that better than T.O!!! Once again I'm glad he's not going.

Lol oh now he realizes it.. yeah ok

He deserves to be a HOFr that no one will remember

Says the guy taking time out of his life to write a post about T.O.

LMFAO

This thread is 121 pages, when was the last time you saw a 121 page thread on a guy everyone was trying to forget? T.O is relevant!

Give me a break.

The NFL HOF is supposed to be about getting the best players their recognition for what they did in the NFL...not what they did or didn't do off the field.

Terrell Owens, love him or hate him was one of the most productive WRs in league history. WR is a position very much driven off stats. Even running backs have the OL excuse or lack of passing threat.

When TO retired AND when he was first elligbile for enshrinment he was top 2/3 in the top stats a WR can have which is yards and TDs. Receptions are great but a guy who catches 10 passes for 40 yards and 0 TDS didn't have a better game than a guy who catches 4 passes for 160 yards and 3 TDs. We've seen plenty of people get receptions which don't lead to moving the chains.

TO was a guy who could take over a game all on his own. We got lucky on the FG vs the Giants in 02 but TO dominated that game. They just couldn't stop him.

Everywhere he went he produced.

The fact that he wasn't a first ballot HOF when he was top 2/3 in the two most important WR stats in the game is a joke.

The NFL voters didn't do their jobs. MAYBE i could understand the "too many good people" excuse why he wasn't a first ballot guy but not putting him in the 2nd year was their way to reinforce the point. Moss had his issues too and didn't give the effort that TO gave but he got in first ballot.

TO should be pissed and so should NFL fans. They put in Marvin Harrison over him...why because Harrison was waiting? That friggin guy was involved in murder investigation and despite playing with Manning didn't put up numbers better than TO.

Jason Taylor - great dude and a very good player but he wasn't top 5 in sacks and was a first ballot pass rusher. That should've been TO's spot at worst.

NFL HOF voters turned this into a joke. I would rather TO go to the ceremony to enjoy the moment but I don't blame him and I find the idea that people are trashing him for this but not putting any blame on the voters and just saying "others had to wait" is silly.

Some positions are really tough to evaluate - OL is the biggest one and many elite OLmen wait and yes there were a lot of talented WRs who had to wait but none of them were top 2/3 in stats heading into the votes.

It's the NFL HOF not the HOF of good teammates. And really how many of the voters played with TO...oh wait most of them have never played in the NFL.

Boo Hooo cry me a freaking river. There are guys who wait for several DECADES to get in that feel they deserve entry. How dare the hall make TO, the freaking immature baby, wait for two years.

Frank Tarkenton waited 15 years
Derrick Thomas 10 years
Van Broklin 10 years
Kellin Winslow 8 years
Lynn Swan 19 years
Ozzie Newsome 9 years
Art Monk 13 years

None of those players were arguably top 5 all time at their position tho. I kinda see TO not making it in 2016 because they decided to go with Marvin Harrison and TO just missed the cut. Cris Carter, Andre Reed and Tim Brown were inducted in consecutive years. They're not going to put multiple WR in per year so some guys have to wait.

The snub in 2017 wasn't right imo. No WR was inducted and you had Kurt Warner and K Morten Anderson get in when they clearly could have gone in this year and put TO in last year.

I thought tarkenton left football as the td passing leader and maybe even yardage leader

About Tarkenton:

In his 18 NFL seasons, Tarkenton completed 3,686 of 6,467 passes for 47,003 yards and 342 touchdowns, with 266 interceptions, all of which were NFL records at the time of his retirement. Tarkenton's 47,003 career passing yards rank him 8th all time, while his 342 career passing touchdowns is 6th all time in NFL history.[8] He also is 6th on the all-time list of wins by a starting quarterback with 124 regular season victories. He also used his impressive scrambling ability to rack up 3,674 rushing yards and 32 touchdowns on 675 carries. During his career, Tarkenton ran for a touchdown in 15 different seasons, an NFL record among quarterbacks. He ranks fifth in career rushing yards among quarterbacks, behind Randall Cunningham, Steve Young, Michael Vick and Cam Newton. He is also one of two NFL quarterbacks ever to rush for at least 300 yards in seven different seasons; the other is Tobin Rote. When he retired, Tarkenton held NFL career records in pass attempts, completions, yardage, and touchdowns; rushing yards by a quarterback; and wins by a starting quarterback.

Multiple WR arent going to be inducted in the same year...Moss and T.O. are going in this year.

Might be a super fun fact? I just looked at all the HOF classes from 1970 to today and I don't see another class ever with 2 WR in the same year. Maybe I missed one?

No way the best Kicker in the world is better than TO. The last 3 years should have gone Harrison '16, TO '17, Moss '18.

So with the slap in the face snub last year now we see 2 WRs in the same class. For the first time ever?? That's weird.

That said TO is a weird dude. I'm not surprised by his actions at all.

The bold up there... The HOFs excuse was that TOs locker room actions were a direct result of on the field problems with other players and coaches.

That's a bogus excuse. TO's issues with Jeff Garcia didn't change the fact that Garcia went to Owens when he needed big plays.

IMO Owens never said anything which wasn't true here. When he left we got way worse.

With the Eagles the rift in the team was IMO more of an issue because of what McNabb did when TO got hurt. They won 6 games that year 4 with TO playing. 2 without TO. They improved after he left but the defense took a big step forward.

Dallas may be the only place you can claim he ruined team chemistry but I still don't buy that excuse. Plenty of teams have guys who don't get along but play at a high level together.

TO made his teams better. Does the HOF committee hold those other players/coaches at blame as well? It takes two to tango.

Harrison was a friggin shooting suspect at one point and the whole investigation sounded super shady and the guy had clear issues off the field he hid very well.

They were ok putting him over TO when his numbers weren't as good? I just don't get it...
Trying to play in the cfl lol. Activated his 10 day clause with edmonton (he was on their negotiation list). They now have 10 days to sign or release his rights.
