Given his off field shenanigans I didn't think TO was first ballot HOF. But I believe he does belong in the HOF even if the voters didn't put him in on the second ballot. That some of the other less statistically accomplished, yet team success oriented guys got in before him speaks volumes. That being said, if he isn't in within the next two or three years that will seem like BS to me.

If guys like LT can get in on the first ballot and no doubt Ray Lewis will, then why not TO? Being a dick and an a*****e off the field is one thing but drug dealers and violent a*****es walk into the HoF? b******t.

No doubt. If it's just drama Deion Sanders brought a lot of that crap and don't seem to be an issue. Just in the WR position alone...Irvin, Harrison, Carter are all in if I'm not mistaking.

He should be in period! Don't know how it can be justified he should not be in. People are too worried about perception these days and not substance. Its absolutely ridiculous.

He was a total A-Hole that threw a tantrum to get traded after his agent screwed up the free agency paperwork. The Ravens offered us a better pick, but he refused to go there, and told us we had to trade him to Philly.
Bill Walsh told Owens he needed to work on dropping less passes, and Owens said Walsh doesnt know what hes talking about.
Theres a reason we gave number 81 away the very next year after the 2nd best WR in 49ers history departed.
Owens burned his bridges big time. He blatantly insulted the 49ers, and Bill Walsh.
Screw that guy. You guys with your fond memories are forgetting the whole story.
I'm with this, I hated T.O. towards the end, he was a cancer, and needed to be gone, glad he was never brought back, he isn't a HOF'er or a 49er HOF'er IMO, screw him, he threw everyone under the bus.
This.

If the voters had been consistent about not voting in players who had great stats but significant issues other than production on the field, then it would be easier to see why they haven't voted TO into the Hall yet. Hopefully TO will make it next year. (I say that because even though I greatly disliked his antics, he was one of the game's all-time best receivers.)

TO is getting treated by the media the way our fans treat Kaep. There is some real anger and resentment towards him by these petty media a*****es. Guy SHOULD be in but he won't be for a while cuz too many media types are all in their feelings.
Those of you crapping on him are pathetic. There are many a*****e players in the Hall. Hall is about your play, not some stupid non-football related crap. I can't stand moral crusaders who switch their stance like the wind.

The problem with TO is he didn't kiss the media's asses. He didn't pander to them. He wasn't docile. They love those kinds of receivers. Favre great with the media. If he wasn't, they'd fry him and there's a lot to tear him apart with.
This is the problem with these things. Too much personal crap involved when it should only be about play. Look at who got in. TO was better than every one of those guys.

MY QUESTIONS ARE..
how can everyone forgive Michael Irvin and his scandal and allow him to be a first ballot?
how can everyone forget about Brett Favre's PENIS PHOTO scandal and allow him to be a first ballot??
everyone call TOs acts selfish, is it really worst that what Randy Moss showed over his career??
if you truly believe that standing over the STAR of our rival team 2x, and that alone should keep him off of hall of fame,
allow me to call everyone .. JABRONIS !!!!!!

I understand all of that but it does not matter. You guys are criticizing his character when there are dozens of guys with major character issues who are already in the HoF. There are guys who have snorted mountains of blow and tons of other drugs, guys who have been charged with violent crimes, guys who have hit women, they are in the Hall, the vast majority are inferior players and have less production than TO. The voters say they don't take off field stuff into account when deciding, clearly that's b******t and the process is largely arbitrary. When you watched him play you knew you were watching one of the greatest WRs ever. The on field production backs it up and he largely stayed out of any major trouble off the field. He did disrespect this franchise and many others but he also produced on the field time and time again and the HoF is supposed to be about on-field accomplishments.

You have to play by their rules if you want their award. Few people in history have been able to bend the world to their will...TO isn't one of them
Bashing the system and the voters after loosing again is going to potentially cost him next year too...
