Point is, all those QBs were tailor made for his vertical game (for the record, his first 3 QB consisted of a former MVP and 2 first round picks). So from '98 to '04 he had QBs that fit his game. Then in '07 he got Brady and then had him again in '09 and til his release in '10.

Joe and Steve are my two favorite players of all time, so I would never try to compare anyone to them. But this narrative, that moss carried a bunch of bums is also ridiculous.

I'm not saying Moss carried a bunch of bums, all I'm saying is Rice had a better supporting cast. Period.

a supporting cast doesn't make him get open, doesn't make him run routes better, doesn't make him catch any better
I know and pretty sure that the whole 9er pack will gang up on me by saying this...

.. but i FULLY BELIEVE that had TO played in the 80's and 90's with Montana and the rest of the leadership of the great 49er players under Bill Walsh, he would not have been a PUNK.. he woulda been more controlled and more of that "classy 49er" type of player..

oh yeah, he woulda still be dancin, just like earlier in his career because Steve Young and the others were still there.. But the minute TO became the ALPHA in the locker room, that's when he became an instant headache.. the DAY he knew that no other player in the team was bigger (not Jeff Garcia) the DARK SIDE of HIM, just took over...

but as I was saying, had he been w/ the team of Joe, Ronnie and the Gang, (instead of Rice), TERRELL OWENS woulda been the one holding ALL TYPE of NFL records... and not JERRY...

TO would need to have been there by himself without Taylor

TO would shrink in the middle of the field and he always dropped a few passes a game

TO would get some records, but not as many as Rice Accomplished

All Im replacing is Jerry Rice... had TO been there in 1985, (like Jerry) he's #s woulda been better than Rice's regardless of the # of drops you're tryin to argue about..

I agree with both of you. Although I don't think T.O. would've put up Jerry's numbers, it woulda been very close

a supporting cast doesn't make him get open, doesn't make him run routes better, doesn't make him catch any better

You don't think Bill Walsh's play calling helped him get open?

Compare Rice and Moss' rookie years...

Moss was light years better . Rice needed to progress a lot, he was dropping balls left and right, he looked lost and confused out there. Walsh and Montana played a role in his development.

No one developed moss, he developed himself, and he came in and made an immediate impact as a rookie.
What you guys dont realize is that they are (Jerry & Randy) two different type of WRs..

Randy will forever be the BEST DEEP BALL WR this game will ever see... He doesn't scare you after the catch the way Jerry or TO does...

... while JERRY is just plane out THE BEST WR every to play the game.. .. because he can score any time he touches the ball..

I agree regarding what u said about rice and owens..

But u guys gotta stop pretending like moss was only a deep threat, he was much more than that. He had great YAC ability as well...

He had cris Carter as a mentor....he hardly solely developed himself.

If moss's YAC is being understated then Jerrys deep presence is also being underestimated.

It's also funny that Jerrys 40 time is always ragged on. Yet you never/rarely seen him caught in an actual game. In this gif he is a 34 year old WR out running the fastest defense in the league that had Deion on it. Jerry rice was game fast.
